Boardwalk Fair!
Yesterday was the annual boardwalk fair! I look forward to it every year and I always invite a huge group to go with me. However- it NEVER rained during a past boardwalk fair but yesterday was a different story. It started out great. Jen, Carolyn, Denise, Steph, Craig, Rich, Chris, Matt, Camille and I spent a nice time walking up and down looking at all of the tents. On the way back, Rich, Jen and Carolyn all wanted to get their caricatures done. We noticed the sky was getting dark, but decided to remain hopefully optimistic. Rich and Jen sat for their pictures with no problem, but as soon as Carolyn sat down, the sky just opened up. It came down in sheets. The lady in the tent ran to get something to tie to the side posts so no rain would get in, but it didn't really work out. We had the worst tent ever- we were holding it up! Chris and I almost got crushed by a pole and water kept dripping through. After the tent almost fell on us, I started thinking we'd be better outside. I called Denise (who was at another tent when the rain hit) and told her to meet us back at my house later. We had to scream to hear each other. I think I know what people in tornados must feel like. At one point, Mom called Camille's cell and asked how we were doing. She just shouted back "We're in a monsoon!"
After we got home and toweled off, we jumped into four different cars and went to Jen's house for her block party and barbeque. We stayed there until around 10 or so. I think everybody had a really good, and wet day.
