History repeats, sort of

The detectives just picked up my daughter so she could give her statement. Apparently "Jay" is being held on half a million dollar bond. He has a key to my back door. He got it some time ago, and there is no telling who has it now, if he even remembers what it's for. But I've been trained by the best.

I just went around and looked for the weak spots in the windows. I secured all of them, then laid a good deal of dog poop under all of them. It won't keep a predator out, but it will leave a hell of a lot of evidence behind, should anything happen.

My fight or flight is on high alert. *sigh* Just when I thought I could loosen up a little. It took 12 yeaas just to get this far, and now some different lowlife creep is going to shatter the tiny bit of security we have. But I am smarter now. I have studied, and learned, and even if something happens, I am going to make sure there is enough evidence to catch them.

I am putting new batteries in the smoke detectors, even if they don't need them, just in case someone decides to have a bonfire. I am having the locks changed ASAP. I have weapons hidden in various places, including a butter knife in my nightstand........I didn't want to put a bigger knife in there- no point in scaring my granddaughter.

Maybe nothing will happen. But I know better than to assume anything. I am preparing for the worst. Maybe what I went through 12 years ago can have some postives afterall.

fear, survival, safety
