Yet Another Pentacle....
One of the things that came up in the workshop with Deborah Oak was the idea of a "third pentacle" in Feri. The Iron and the Pearl are pretty well known pentacles, right? Well, some Oak proposed that there is a third pentacle to be discovered--a personal pentacle. She suggested that the pentacles are associated with the souls: The Iron Pentacle is associated with the Fetch, and the Pearl Pentacle is associated with Talker. So, there ought to be a pentacle associated with the God Soul, right?
She offered up her version of this pentacle, and mentioned that other Feris have developed third pentacles as well (Amethyst, Blessing, Warrior...), and that these pentacles may come from the practitioners relation to their Divine. (Partly, this may explain why I've never found these other pentacles very compelling. I've worked with the Warrior Pentacle and the Blessing Pentacle, but they're not as juicy for me as the Iron and the Pearl. It could be that they're just very individualized.)
When she said this, I almost fell out of my chair. It was like she was confirming something that I've been working on for months!
I started developing another pentacle late last Winter. It just sort of came out of my work with the Pearl and the Iron... I kept thinking to myself, "There are some missing points in this whole Iron-Pearl thing." I couldn't exactly name them, so I did some trance work to discover the points, using Iron and Pearl as a base. I asked myself, "Starting with Elemental, working up through Iron, and then through Pearl, where does the energy want to go next?" And so I named five points that felt right to me.
I started calling it "The Pentacle of values I'd like to see more of in myself and the World." That title didn't last, because it's long. Since the pentacle was shaped while I was working with Freya, and since it holds some of the values that I felt were developing from that relationship, I started calling it the Amber Pentacle.
The points of the Amber Pentacle are (in invoking order): Hope, Joy, Understanding, Fortitude and Wonder. (Mapping onto Sex, Pride, Self, Power and Passion, for example.) I've shared this pentacle with hernes_moon, and we've talked about how the points manifest for me. This pentacle really speaks to me, but I don't know if it will speak to anyone else, since it came directly out of my own work.
I don't have much to say about that, but I'm wondering what others think... Is there a "third pentacle" that is developed as Feri work progresses? Are there just a whole lot of pentacles? Does the Amber Pentacle have a place in anyone else's work besides mine? Should these "third pentacles" be shared, or should they stay personal?
