OOC: Memory #5
[[OOC: This memory is from the episode "Idol", a transcript of which can be found here. Since Sky already knows Ghost's real name, I didn't bother to static it out.
For the next 4 days, all of his clothing will turn into a polka-dot pattern.]]
Sky couldn't see anything, but he could feel and hear quite well- the bustle of people all around him, the sound of a fountain behind him and the light spray coming from it, the wind running through his hair, burning pain in his right wrist. He was sitting on a hard surface and holding something in his right wrist, by the sounds of it, scrubbing at something.
"You have to do the entire entrance?" Ghost was asking.
"Yeah," Sky replied, his tone resigned. "And all the other cement areas, too. Seems Commander Cruger thinks that I'll remember that Academy regulations are meant for everybody. Even self-righteous, pig-headed, ego-driven Rangers like myself."
"He said that?" Ghost demanded, incredulous.
"He wasn't so nice," said Sky with a hollow, self-depreciating laugh.
"Ouch," Ghost replied sympathetically, then went on, "Hey. I thought you might want this."
"Thanks," said Sky, and felt himself grab something, running his fingers along it- the familiar metal S.P.D. bracelet, the one he'd given to Inara to wear on their anniversary. "I guess a bracelet alone doesn't make a friendship," he then said ruefully.
"No, it doesn't," Ghost agreed. "But I do admire what you and Dru had, once." Sky nodded, and then he could hear Ghost lean over and begin scrubbing, too. "Hey, you missed a spot."
"Jack, stop, you don't have to do that," Sky grumbled.
"I know," said Ghost quietly. They were silent for a few seconds before Sky, surprisingly, started to chuckle. "What? What-what're you laughing at?" Ghost demanded.
"I can't say," Sky mumbled, but kept laughing louder and louder.
"Wha- what's so funny?" Ghost wanted to know, as Sky felt himself rocking back and forth with merriment.
"Sorry!" he finally smirked. "I'm using your toothbrush."
And with that, the memory faded.
