Yo--

[Long pause.]

Was I the only one spent all yesterday hidin' out from the police?

I go out to the store and next thing I know I got ten cops on me. I ain't even got no gun on me that they could see then.

the law is for losers, aftermath

Sounds like a typical day in New York, actually.

You're missing out on a lovely life experience, then. Sometimes I wondered if they just pulled me over for driving with an accent to check my taxi license.

They usually sit in the back of the cab, victim to my rambling until they reach their destination.

Baltimore, was it? Am I to infer that you have a reason to avoid the police?

I think I understand where you're coming from.

My name is Mohinder Suresh, by the way.

Hope you don't understand too well, if the police in New York be as nasty as I heard.

I'm Omar.

They change their minds quickly enough if you use a few ten dollar words.

Congratulations, Omar, on not being arrested.

I think that might just make some of the cops I known angry.

Ain't sure I'm owed congratulations for that, anymore than I owed 'em for breathin'. But thanks anyway.

Breathing is an unconscious function, though. If you're able to unconsciously avoid the police, I would definitely say it deserves congratulations, mister Omar.

Maybe habit be the better word to use. But you got a point there.

Provided that you're also lucky, skilled or blessed, yes.

I'll take skilled over either the other two any day.
