Barbara Ehrenreich-Getting Ready

I like that she doesn't fake anything. She doesn't pretend that she actually went out there and pretending to live a completely different life. I think she does a great job of telling us that no matter how hard to try unless you actually live that life you can never really understand the hardships people go through. It's like those people who put on 'black' makeup and outfits to see what kinda of discrimination they go through. Truth is, you can put on as much makeup as you want but you're not black. You're not them. She admits to tapping into her savings account now and again even though she was truly trying to make it on minimum wage. We make think we understand people and we can read about them, hang out w/ them and research them on end but unless you're born in that situation you don't know about them, you can't possible know what they deserve or how they should be treated.
