My life since moving back to Cambria County: escapism, traveling, books, missing (aspects of) Pittsburgh, nostalgia, ignoring my future, worrying about my future, Portland, vegans, planes, trains, buses, Vancouver, Philly. In an attempt to impart a semblance of order to this Inventory-- 1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: 2 days of straight escapism/reading...and the end of the era. Rachel and I celebrated by making "Cauldron Cakes" and "Butterbeer" and of course, midnight madness. I was Pansy Parkinson/random Slytherin.
I think I am plotting plots against Gryffindors. And I have a wierd triangular patch of sunburn from canoeing all day in West Virginia. But I guess that's okay, 'cause the black wig washes out my skin so much? Right? I loved how many other dressed-up losers were there. Though, I have to say we had some of the better costumes.
These were Cauldron Cakes; they are also known as Pumpkin Chocolate-Chip Cupcakes with Cinnamon Icing from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World.
2. Portland, Oregon and a little event known as Vegan: The Gathering. In other words, a bunch of vegan internet nerdz meet on a message board known as The PPK and decide to meet-up and camp together for a weekend in a backyard outside of Hillsboro, OR and eat lots of delicious food cooked by vegan cookbook phenom Isa Chandra Moskowitz as well as other special people. It was the perfect excuse to take that trip to Portland I'd been "planning"...oh, and try to force myself out of the paralyzing social-awkwardness/shyness that seems to dictate a lot of my actions. What a whimsical life I do lead! I plan on posting a photo-diary of the excursion in the next few days.
3. For now, living back at home feels kind a vacation of sorts from real life. It can't last...at least I keep telling myself this....
