Las Vegas Rock n Roll Half 2013

Hey everyone!

Look, a real update!

I'm in Las Vegas right now getting ready to board a flight back home. Just spent four days in Sin City to run the Las Vegas Rock n Roll Half Marathon and it was fantastic. The All-American Rejects were the pre-race band, and they were super fun live. Tyson, the lead singer, seriously needs a sandwich though, or stop with the drugs so much, that dude is suuuuper skinny. Anyway, stayed at the Flamingo, which was super smart because the finish was super close and I could hobble on back without feeling like I was going to die. The race itself was super cool, one of my favorite races I've ever done. They had some great bands along the way and djs blasting tunes along the way, as well as some ridiculous light shows. They closed off the Strip for the run, so I felt kind of fancy, like they shut down the road for me, ha! It was also beautiful to run through the Strip at night, with everything so brightly lit and drunken "woo!" Girls and bros cheering you on. It was cool to see the Las Vegas sign brightly lit like that. I kind of feel like a loon for NOT bringing my phone on this race because it was so pretty. Oh well, if I'm not pregnant or dealing with a newborn next November, I totally am doing it again!

While my time was not exactly blazing at 2:45, I did much better than I did at the race in San Jose in October, though not cramping up and not having to hobble through the last 4.2 miles really helped matters, ha! Frankly, I'm surprised I did as well as I did because I've been in such a crappy "don't wanna work out" mood lately, but yay! I woke up actually feeling pretty good, which of course to me is proof that I could have gone faster, but whatever, I was having too much fun looking at everything and taking random photos with Elvis impersonators! I can't wait for the Turkey Trot 10k (only about 6.2 miles) in just 10 days and then the Hot Chocolate Run in January which is about 9.3 miles. I'm actually shocked at how good my legs feel, but I still scheduled myself for a massage at work tomorrow. I know, my life is so hard sometimes, right?

Good lord, I am so competitive with myself. This is motivating me to get back on my game though, so that's good. I've been told basically that I need to get into amazing shape in order to have more of a chance to support pregnancy, which ticks me off because I'm not fat and there are plenty of women who are much bigger than I am who have zero issues with pregnancy. *sigh* Whatever, challenge accepted!
