Japan 20101226 - 20110115

Dec 28, 2010 23:58

Since I've been asked to update about what I'm doing in Japan, this will be my official Japan update post. ^^ The places I will visit: Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. Pics will follow once I get back and upload them...

And wow! Thanks to everyone who's been commenting on the new chap of IHC. I hope you understand I won't be replying until I go back home, however I will check by here and read your comments almost daily. Thank you!

The ones, who want to meet up, please let me know when and where ^^ I'll be in Tokyo 27.12-2.1 and in Osaka 3.1-7.1 and in Kyoto 8.1-12.1 and then come back to Tokyo 13.1-15.1 when it's time for me to leave this paradise and go home.

2010年12月26日

Left Finland early in the morning and stopped at Frankfurt airport for a good 4-5 hours before jumping on my plane to Japan <3 I spent my time getting slightly lost and randomly riding the airport sky liner. Okay, studied a bit Japanese too! And had Cata's book with me to read ^^

Note: It's hot! People keep saying "Samui ne~" They should try the Finnish winter. It's like -10 or -20 degrees cold. Sometimes even colder, especially when it's windy. To me this is practically summer XD

2010年12月27日

Arrived around 9:30 to Narita and jumped on Keisei Sky Liner. I guess it was really first then I realized I was really in Japan again! :D I searched for my hotel in Asakusa and found it only after this older Japanese man approached me asking, "Doko?" He helped me find it and I got to practice some polite Japanese from the start XD

Headed straight for Harajuku after making a fast stop at the hotel room. Just had to go check out the Johnny's stores again ^^ After that I got really lost and wandered around for 1-2 hours somewhere near Shibuya - where I had meant to go to next XD Clearly too much pretties(=Johnnys)messes up my head and my sense of direction is next to zero. Therefore the outcome was the obvious. I was so relieved when I finally managed to take the right turn and ended up finding a subway station ^^; I've never tried the buses before, so I didn't jump on one. I came to notice that Cata had clearly been the one of us two with the navigation skills. I regret she couldn't come with me this time.

Anyway, tired and with aching feet and back I got back to the hotel, stopping by the nearby grocery shop and bought myself my first onigiri of the trip <3 I could eat dozens of them! I looked through my plans for the following days and went to bed earlier, because I was already falling asleep on the way back with Ginza Line - my favorite line, btw. It's so cosy!

2010年12月28日

Got to rest and woke up in a good mood. I hate sleeping on planes, buses etc. when you don't have any room to lift up your feet or straighten your back. Got myself a morning onigiri and was off for adventures in Shibuya :) At first everything went well. I jumped on the Ginza Line and rode it all to the last stop, Shibuya, got off and took lots of pics by the crossing - when noticing suddenly how I couldn't find the KinKi symbol that was supposed to be there D:
I was so proud of myself when I found my way to Johnny's Family Club by only remembering the way we had taken last time with Cata. They had lots of new stuff there (some which I will post pictures of later)and I took probably the most photos there ^^; Watched many video introductions of the boys too! They were so funny <3

I made it easily back to the crossing and even got myself the newest Myojo, but after that I took a few wrong turns and ended up getting slightly lost again XD; I had been aiming for HMV to buy an album, maybe KinKi's J, and I don't get it how I could have missed it when the building is freaking huge!

Followed the sound of music and talk, and went in the direction where I saw more people - take it from me, these tips might come in handy. Tokyo needs more signs and names on their roads! My maps weren't very helpful.

I got my Johnny's Countdown ticket delivered to my hotel today! *hyper* Thank you so much ina for recommending me the service you used! She was very nice, indeed! Now I just need to make it in, but she went through the trouble to write me a letter too to persuade the staff should they start asking questions!

Headed for Ikebukuro later in the afternoon and stopped by Otome Road - the female Otaku street. I bought myself three doujinshis: HayaRyu, KinKi and TxT ^^

Then I was supposed to meet a Japanese girl inside Ikebukuro's station at this one shop, but I never found it. She was laughing when I apologized all embarrassed for making her come find me instead. I did warn her, though, that it might pan out that way. She took me to a wonderful Japanese restaurant and we ate delicious food. It was so traditional! Really beautiful!

Got back quite late and am now at the hotel's internet ^^ Wonder where I'll get lost tomorrow... I'll let you know. Good night <3

Advice to those who want to travel inside Japan from one place to another: there are discounts, but you have to apply for them in time (sometimes a week, sometimes a day earlier is fine)AND remember that the trains may be full so make sure to book your trips in time ^^ I went today to Tokyo station and booked my train from Tokyo to Osaka using the "Puratto Kodama Economy Plan" discount and paid 11,500 yen for the trip to Osaka (because all trains were so full that I had to take a smoking car - apparently this is one of the busiest times to travel in Japan) and 9800 yen for the trip from Kyoto back to Tokyo. I'm thinking of using a local train between Osaka and Kyoto so I didn't buy that one yet.
Where you can purchase the discount ticket: from JTB or JR Tokai Tours. I used the latter and there's one located at Tokyo station. Go to the North Exit.

I was so happy that I got both of my tickets! It will be fun to travel with shinkansen further into Japan!

Then of course followed my usual 'Jo messes up moment' - right after something good happened to me XD I accidentally charged my Suica card wrong and the machine threw me a ticket instead. Beware of that! Then I made a wrong peep and ended up not getting to where I was going - I think I accidentally peeped into the wrong gate. Big stations confuse me. Anyway, the staff was nice and let me on my way.

Actually this trip could be named 'the mistakes I made - you don't have to!' Just don't do what I did wrong and you'll be fine :D

Anyway, continued on to Yasukuni Shrine and took lots of photos. Then I headed towards Shinjuku's Kabukichou and Korea Town. There was a bit of confusion on the way ^^; and I'm a little unclear how it all happened, but the place I had read would be more like Kabukichou was actually looking more like Korea Town. If you get off either at Seibu-Shinjuku station or Higashi-Shinjuku station and walk down the road you'll come across lots of Kboys stores selling DBSK, SuJu, Big Bang etc things. It's like the K-version of Harajuku's Takeshitadori that is mostly dominated by Jboys (mainly Johnnys) ^^ Got to practice a little Korean. It's funny, but the Korean language is starting to sound a bit familiar to me when I hear it. It's no longer something I feel I don't understand at all. *yay* Gawd. I've noticed how I've become a true Big Bang's T.O.P. fan ^^; He catches my eyes somehow. Love his dark make-up. I have to admit I've become a bit weak for Jang Geun Seok (You're beautiful, Beethoven Virus etc.) Though I'm quite disappointed in how little slashy pics I found >.< Would've wanted at least a YunJae one! Gosh, the pics they've taken and not one to be found~ Anyway I got a few things <3

Ate at a Korean restaurant something that looked kind of like a Korean version of pizza...erm, how should I romanize it? Chijimi? Anyway, it was good! Then I picked some kimbap with me on the way to snack on in the hotel room, where I'm planning on reading through my doujinshis from the other day.

On the way back I stopped by Asakusa and had a look at Sumida river. I was thinking of going shopping for gifts at the Sensouji temple, but if memory serves those shops closed quite early so I decided to just head back and rest my poor feet and back.

Tomorrow KinKi!! So excited! I hope everything will go okay... I'm always nervous before a show, thinking they won't let me in or something will go wrong and I'll end up standing outside the Dome listening to the boys instead and waving a penlight. Oh, gotta buy one!! I'm really curious to know what they're selling for KinKi's and the Countdown cons! Have seen some goods, but tried not to look too much at them otherwise I'll only get impatient XD;
Hopefully I'll come back tomorrow with a long KinKi report <3

2010年12月30日

I'm not sure anything coherent will come out of this attempt to write straight after returning from KinKi con, but I'll give it a shot because I'm hyper :D

The day's piece of advice for those coming to Japan: post offices are a good place to lift change because you can't always do that in Japanese banks - no matter how silly that may sound! So find a post office (you'll be more likely to be able to use your cards there) and 7-Elevens are also a good choice. I'm sure you all know by now, but cash is the word in Japan. Many stores and other places don't accept cards.

After an exciting trip to find the nearest post office in Harajuku and almost getting lost on the way, I met A-san (let's call her that because I'm not sure she wants her identity to be revealed) in Harajuku today and we went to eat at one of her favourite places ^^ We talked a lot, mainly about Johnnys, and had lots of fun. We decided to meet again in Harajuku tomorrow and go see Janji, because she's never been there. While I'm there I'm going to look for some pics of the concert, because there were a few moments that were definitely camera worthy ^^ <3

I met up with the person, who I was going to go to the con with. There was a huuuge line to the goods, but it went unexpectedly fast and smooth, and I bought myself the KinKi penlight and something for Cata ^^

There was a separate ticket store for us gaijin :D and despite all my previous worries everything went both fast and well and suddenly I was standing there with two tickets in my hands! We went inside and found our seats that were on the first floor right of the stage. A pretty good spot I think.

I had a great time! I waited impatiently for KinKi's show to begin, while secretly taking two pictures of the Dome with my cell phone ^^ They didn't turn out that well, cause I was too scared to aim and shoot thinking someone would notice me, but I'll post them here anyway. What I love about Johnny's concerts is that they start on time! And that at least in the Dome everyone has a place to sit down.

KinKi Kids started the concert by standing and looking cool while these guys were working on taking their moving stages across the floor. Then they walked over to the small scene closest to the audience and opened the concert with Family. They actually sang Family three times during the show! And because I was so excited I can't actually remember all the songs or in what order, but I'm sure there are tracklists (that I avoided because I didn't want any spoilers XD) for their shows. Anyway, I remember Garasu no Shounen quite clearly. The effects were very nice! Not too many, but not too few either. I loved the effects in KAT-TUN's Break the Records Tour, but I have to say KinKi Kids' Kimi mo Doumoto FAMILY was, in my opinion, even better because the effects worked so beautifully together with their songs <3 I was really impressed! Also the whole atmosphere felt different this time compared to the KAT-TUN cons I was on. In the KAT-TUN ones something was always happening and the crowd was louder. KinKi gave out this feeling of being more mature and real pros. I've enjoyed seeing both KAT-TUN and KinKi so much and would anytime catch a concert by either one <3 I highly recommend them to others too!

Though there was one set of squeals almost right off the bat as they sort of turned towards each other and then did a high five =^^=

After Garasu no Shounen they took a quick MC break and Tsuyoshi was constantly teasing Koichi about him getting older XD Then they were really interested in the teip Koichi had brought onto the stage. Even though I just mentioned that KinKi gave this impression of being more mature and pros, Koichi was really hyper today! He constantly did this dance routine making everybody laugh XD

They also had this video show with lots of their songs and older clips mixed in together! I'm a real fan of Bonnie Butterfly, Tsukiyo no Monogatari, Jounetsu and more, and would've wanted to see them perform those songs too! Have to watch older concerts. Can't wait until this one is released as a DVD version!

Members of Heisei Jump also came onto the stage (six of the really youngest ones so of course Tsuyoshi took the opportunity to tease Koichi about his age again). Koichi announced he was joining the group and went to stand beside them, where they were lined up next to each other. Sorry, my knowledge in Heisei Jump or the Juniors is really bad. I'd kinda feel like an old perv fangirling them so I refrain XD; But there was this subgroup of Heisei consisting of 3 members who took the middle stage and performed a few songs then the 3 others joined them. The trio's name was made out of their names, I think.

The dancers were really good! I liked the stage and how they moved over it, and up and down it.

I was already all teary when Ai no Katamari started playing and I wanted burst into tears <3 It was so beautiful! Then after a while they performed Family for a second time. And during Snow!Snow!Snow! they had these wonderful snow effects. I kept waiting for my favorite song I actually knew would come (had been that much spoiled XD) and finally they sang Anniversary!! I sang along a bit, but hopefully no one heard me ^^ I don't know what it is about that song, but I get all mushy and warm inside. Ai no Katamari is probably my second favorite and I love it how Koichi made the music for it and Tsuyoshi the lyrics! Just like in Family!

After Anniversary they disappeared. And we clapped and screamed 'KinKi' for a really long time. They were a little mean XD But didn't mind much as they then returned with KinKi Kids forever! Then they also did Family for a third time and I got this whole KAT-TUN's Neiro flashback because we sang a long in the end and the 'Arigatou' reminded me so much of the 'Neiro' we sang at the end of the song.

They were quite chatty. The MCs were quite long too - not that I'm complaining ^^ And they bowed in all directions and screamed thank you. Then Koichi was dancing again XD

The normal lights turned on as they had disappeared and we all thought it was over. Some were still clapping and screaming 'KinKi' while there were announcements made. Then all of a sudden they appear back onto the stage all goofy and chat for a long time. Koichi dances XD Even after they disappeared off the stage they were still talking into their microphones. I was so moved by how they came back out because I had kind of wanted more than just one encore <3

And from now on my name will be Doumoto Jo because KinKi exclaimed us all to be part of the Doumoto family <3 they have many kids XD

Ah, I'll add stuff in later when I'm a little more coherent and perhaps my brain starts to work again ^_____^ Good night! KinKi Kids Forever <3

2010年12月31日

Started the day meeting the person I went to see KinKi with and we went to a few shops in Harajuku to look at pictures and found some of the concert. Then I met A-san again and we hung out in Harajuku the whole day XD Basically I came there early in the morning and left just in time for Countdown.

First we went to look at Janji and it was of course closed since it was New Year's Eve. Then we checked out some shops, mainly clotches, before feeling hungry and we ended up at Sweets Paradise. I highly recommend that place! It's on Takeshitadori (on the right side in a building a few stores up). For a price you can eat and drink as much as you want for 70 minutes, then you need to leave. There's different foods, drinks and desserts.

We went looking for phone straps and other Johnnys things and took purikuras ^^ Then we wandered around a bit more, ending up at this cafe called Double Tall. After that we walked down the streets, where there were many stands some selling food, new years stuff and, of course, Johnnys stuff ^^ Had my first ever takoyaki! It was quite good, though I was sort of scared to eat it since it was a huge version of takoyaki!

After this I hurried to the countdown dressed in a kawaii outfit I had picked up that day on Takeshitadori ^______^ I was shocked to see that there were no Countdown goods left on sale! I had waited excitedly to buy all kinds of goods! And to add to it I had left my KinKi Kids' penlight at the hotel >.< Bought two small uchiwas instead: a Koichi one and a Tsuyoshi one. Felt like I had to have something to the concert and the uchiwas are heartshaped <3

Before I got inside there were these two girls, who approached me. First I thought they wanted to buy a ticket from me, but then I realized that they were probably trying to sell me one. There were also some tickets left in the Harajuku ticket store before I left for countdown, so next time I might try to get one from there instead unless I'm studying in Japan and have a Japanese address. Then I can buy them online.

I got in without a problem ^^ I even dared to take a small picture with my cell phone again. Will post it, though the quality probably isn't all that good. My seat was again on the 1st floor, but this time left of the stage. A pretty good view ^^

You've probably all watched the countdown clip, but here's my report anyway ^^

Johnnys' Countdown 2010-2011! *squeal*

KUNTT, I mean, KAT-TUN *shot* opened the show and did two numbers. Kame was wearing this red jacket (aka - heheh ^^ *shot again*)and was the last one to take his jacket off! They did Change Ur World first.

Jin wasn't there, which I guess was a good thing, because it would've felt weird if he had been there and the rest of KAT-TUN had still sang his parts in all the songs. But by him not being there it feels like he's being more and more disconnected from all Johnny's activities and isn't a 'Johnny' anymore ):

Didn't see Toma either! I was surprised he was missing. He should also get some solo songs to perform during countdown, like Uchi. When KaT-TUN did Real Face Ueda did Jin's parts in the beginning and Kame was alone with the tongue-clicking, earning lots of screams anyway ^^

Uchi came onto the stage after 5nin KAT-TUN with his Hi! Hi! Rocky! and after him came Matchy. Yamapi also took the stage alone with his song One in a Million and later on he did Daite Seniorita <3
TegoMass did a performance together, after which the rest of NewS (Yamapi, Koyama and Shige) also came onto the stage. Ryo obviously wasn't there as he was with K8 (K7 *shotshot*)in Osaka. They were on the screen and performed Naniwa Iroha Bushi. They were total dorks tonight too <3 They were dressed up as sushi the next time they appeared on the screen and lied down in a row on the stage XD
NewS did Fighting Man and weeeek. Loved hearing especially weeeek! I love that song!

When KinKi took the stage they performed Family. They were so cute together <3 They hosted the countdown, looking so married ^^

Arashi were on the screen too. They were in Kouhaku. I think they were on some rooftop, if I saw correctly XD

In the beginning of the show Tsubasa was in Tokyo Dome and Tackey was on the screen, but Tsubasa again rushed over to Tackey, who was doing his own show in a theater and their performance of Yume Monogatari was so adorable!! I squeaked and screamed! Cutest thing I've seen in a long time, especially considering how the lyrics went so well together with what they did - twirling around in the air together <3 <3 I want to go to a Tackey and Tsubasa wedding a.k.a. concert so badly!! And I definitely hope that will end up on the clip, which it should because it happened after it was announced we were on air. They had us rehears screaming a few times before counting down and going on air XD

Really enjoyed hearing V6 perform their Music for the People! Somehow I always relate that song to Countdown. Tokio looked really tough and insane as always XD <3 Gotta love their style and I adore how they and K8 actually play instruments too!

I'm really bad when it comes to the juniors and Hey Say Jump, but I think that not everyone of Hey Say Jump were on stage tonight...? Aren't they like ten members? I counted less. Anyway, they did their Ultra Music Power. Before them the same trio that were on KinKi's con, NYC I think it was, did a number. And Kis-My-Ft2 were on roller skates - don't understand how they pull that off. They can skate everywhere! I'm always watching them in fear, hoping nothing bad happens. I think I'm taking a slight liking into them. They did Firebeat.

During the MC part Kame was smelling Maru, making fans scream again. I'm unclear whether that was still being aired. This is just my personal opinion, but I felt Kame looked a little tired. Nevertheless he was still doing his best out there as always. I think KinKi have been looking quite tired too lately, but they were still even more genki now than during yesterday's concert. I didn't see Koichi getting any kisses, but I hope he will at tomorrow/today's KinKi concert ^^

They imported six huge 'balloons' into the Dome where it was written 'Johnnys' Countdown 2010-2011' and 'Happy New Year', carrying baskets and I think NewS were in them ones. I think I saw Kame too later in one. They went up so people on the second floor highest up could see them better.

During Seishun Amigo Kame and Yamapi were in these crane controlled baskets and they did the thumb thing together as they were close enough. (I saw two people up on the cranes and I thought it was Kame and Pi, but some say that other Johnnys sang Seishun Amigo, so now I'm confused ^^; Too much was going on at the same time, so I might have gotten some things wrong here.)

I loved it when it came to the time when the bands sings other bands songs. KAT-TUN did NewS' Koi no ABO. K8 did KAT-TUN's Keep the Faith.

The second time KinKi performed Family the guys lined up in pairs and KinKi sort of walked through them (like a couple walking down the aisle XD) but someone (missed who it was) was lying down on the stage and in the middle of singing Koichi kneeled down and asked the guy if he was all right. I think (and hope) the guy was just playing around, because KinKi continued pretty quickly on their way. It was like Johnnys Family ^____^ KinKi and their many kids!

Shige and Tegoshi (and one guy from ABC - correction, it was a Kis-My-Ft2 member ^^; this just displays my fantastic knowledge in juniors. Thanks to the ones correcting me!) were the ones dressed up this year - the year of the rabbit.

Maru beatboxed when KinKi thanked all the bands and they disappeared one by one.

I'll probably return when I remember more. Anyway I got back to my hotel around 3 or 4 am. The concert ended at 1, but due to a little confusion whether or not to meet A-san or not for a little more New Year's celebration it turned out she couldn't go because of work the next morning and I was also beat. Since it was New Year the subways and trains were still working, but I had to wait a while in a crowded subway. Then I spent a long ride on the Yamanotesen by watching this Panasonic (Beauty) Kame commercial that aires on the screens every so often =^^= He has such lovely curves~ Have to download it once I get back home and watch it like insane!

Being here in Japan and talking with fans has given me more fate in Akame <3 Can't say why, but it has. So I'm so jealous Jin gets to see those curves beyond where the camera reaches!

2011年1月1日

Happy New Year!!

Can't believe the year has changed! I woke up late due to having gone to sleep late too, and met a fellow fan girl (well, mostly fan of Jrock) after noon ^^ We met at Tawaramachi station and it brought back so many memories from when we were staying there with Cata and always using that station <3

We went around in Ueno and ate udon there. Then we walked, got slightly lost, found our way and bought mochi. Gotta have those at New Year! You're also supposed to watch the sunrise and I was going to eat udon and mochi with A-san while watching the sunrise, but we were both too tired last night.

I learnt that they don't have much firework in Japan during New Year's Eve. I found that to be quite odd, but at least we counted down and fired a lot during Johnnys' Countdown ^^

Then we went to Odaiba and saw the Rainbow bridge at night! It was soooo beautiful! I recommend everyone going there as soon as it gets dark! Unexpectedly the shops were still open too, even though it was the first day of the year, and we went around in Palette Town; rode the Wheel, took lots of pictures and went to stores. There was this Aqua City too and had mango sorbet and hamburgers. Really delicious!

Got back quite late again, but had another fun day ^^

2011年1月2日

Met up with two girls today and we went to see the Imperial Palace, but this time from the inside! Apparently you can only see it twice a year from the inside and those days are today (2.1 when Tenno gives his New Year speech) and on Tenno's birthday 23.12.

After that we walked into Ginza and bought melonpans then continued to walk to find a restaurant, where you could make Monjayaki yourself by your table. First time ever doing it, but at least now I know how to...in theory at least XD In Osaka I will try their Okonomiyaki, because I heard Osaka is famous for it and Takoyaki.

We ate the melonpans by Sumidariver in Ginza. Really nice place! And the melonpans tasted great!

Then we headed off towards Harajuku *surprise surprise* :D And I found this cute OhYassan photo ^^ Would've wanted to buy Countdown pics, especially if they had ones on TxT's Yume Monogatari, but I didn't find any. Gotta go there again when I return from Kyoto.

Then I went two a coffee shop with two girls and we had fun talking mostly Johnnys' stuff ^^

Tomorrow it's Osaka! Excited about it, but at the same time I don't want to leave Tokyo <3 I feel like I've kind of settled in here now.

2011年1月3日

Left for Osaka this morning with Kodama Shinkansen. Saw Fuji-san on the way ^^ The sights were otherwise also amazing!

When I came to Osaka it took me a little while to find my way through the stations, but managed well in the end. The hostel I'm staying in is nice, but one of the minus points is that you have to pay for going online so I have to be quick.

The hostel staff recommended me the Icoca card (kind of like Tokyo's Suica card) that allows you to ride on the subways and trains.

I walked around a little around my hostel and ate at this Korean-like restaurant. Then I walked over to Umeda Sky Building. The view was great! Could see around Osaka. I recommend going once the sun has set ^^

2011年1月4日

Another quick update ^^

Went to the JE store today. It wasn't that hard to find, I think. Get off at Shinsaibashi station and take the Oda 8 exit. Then when you get to the street go to your left and take in on the street that has a hotel on one side and a bank on the other. On that small street it's on the right side.

After this I walked through Amerika-mura down to Namba, crossing the Ebisu-bridge. Tried to go to most of the places in Kanjani8's song ^^

I'm totally in love with this one fruity drink I can find in a nearby store.

2011年1月5日

Went with a Japanese girl I met in the room I share with two others to Osaka castle and ate Takoyaki there. We ate Omurisu before going to ATC & WTC = Asia and Pacific World Trade Center & World Trade Center. We ate tasty ice cream there.

2010年1月6日

I started the day by going over to this shopping street that is like 2-3 kilometers long! Found this small Korean shop on it, but no other Johnnys stores than a few that sold records/DVDs and such. Ate this wonderful anpan.

Then I made my first attempt to find Osaka's huge Korea Town - supposedly the biggest one in Japan, but didn't find it XD

Got kinda disappointed and decided to find the tower that kind of represents Osaka instead, but got lost on the way again XD;; Shut up. No Tokyo Tower remarks! I just knew this would happen~
However I did find it in the end with some help ^^v Had my first kushikatsu too! So delicious!

2010年1月7日

I started the day with a cute donuts breakfast at Mister Donuts and have lemon soda ^^ Then I made my second desperate attempt at finding Korea Town, I asked so many people on the way, but ended up not finding it this time either >.<

Anyway, headed off for Namba instead and I did find Namba Parks! Afterwards I met up with a friend and went for delicious ramen and purikuras and Mandrake in Umeda <3

2010年1月8日

Quick update time finally!

Took the Shinkaisoku from Osaka to Kyoto ^^ Somehow I find it easier to find my way in Kyoto. The hostel is from a walking distance from Kyoto Station. It's nice, but not that warm because except for in the shower they don't really have warm water ^^;; That's the downside of being on a trip in Japan in winter time - the hotels/hostels/ryokans can be as cold inside as it is outside. Otherwise winter is a nice time to be traveling in Japan. There are fewer tourists and, to me at least, it doesn't feel like winter - more like spring!

Today I didn't do anything that exciting because as I had checked in at the hostel and went out the sun was already setting. Had myself an evening stroll in the Palace Garden. But before I could check in I took a look at the amazing station that is Kyoto Station and walked around the area close to my hostel. Had a delicious ramen lunch too :D

2010年1月9日

Headed straight for the Palace Garden again now that is was light and looked around. Then I walked down the big street leading towards Kyoto station and on the way stopped at the Manga Museum. Read some Naruto there ^^ I headed for Nishiki Market next and had myself a nice meal and this 'floating melon drink' :D Been wanting to try that for some time! I've never seen that in Finland!

Next I barely made it to Kyoto Tower before it got dark and at the top I took lots of pictures. Before I knew it I was taking pictures with this Japanese family, who kept on chatting with me. They were really nice!

Back at the hostel they had made us mochi and after finding out I was a Johnny's fan they played me KAT-TUN's best of album all evening <3

2010年1月10日

I met with a girl from livejournal and we went to Kiyomizudera. It was so beautiful! And somehow magical when it snowed a bit! I bought a charm and walked from the 'love stone' with my eyes closed to the other 'love stone' ^^ It supposedly symbolizes your love life. Then I drank the water that was supposed to give you good health.

On our way back these guys suddenly approached us and asked if they could take a picture. I thought they wanted us to take their picture, but as we said yes one of them came to stand in between us and the rest took his picture XD I didn't think that foreigners in Kyoto would be so interesting since Kyoto has many visitors.

We headed back to the station for sushi and then we noticed that all the places we could go visit were closing, so we decided on purikuras and karaoke ^^ Sang karaoke for 2 hours and had Asahi beer! It was so much fun!

2010年1月11日

I started the day with a trip to Kyoto's Botanic Garden only to realize that the actual sights were in winter time only indoors. Then I headed off to Kinkakuji and took lots of pictures and bought some cards to send back home. (I was late in doing it and I will probably arrive before they do!)

In the evening I met two people, who are from my university and are studying in Kyoto for a year. They showed me to this wonderful kaiten sushi place (only 90yen per plate!!). It was again near the Nishiki areas. I stuffed myself with sushi and then we went for coffee and dessert. I had this wonderful chocolate cheesecake with a coke. So delicious! I swear I've probably gained weight during my stay here XD Despite how much I walk per day!

Met with a girl from livejournal again and we went looking for kimonos/yukatas. There were supposed to be some on sale by a temple. First we didn't really find it and this older Japanese man showed us the way while chatting friendly with us. There wasn't a single kimono or yukata as far as I could tell.

We headed off to the shopping district instead (around Nishiki Market) and did some shopping. My shoes had been killing me for more or less the whole trip so I finally bought myself a pair of really comfy ones instead :D It's like a fluffy dream to walk in them!

Then we ate at a 'all you can eat' shabu shabu restaurant near Kyoto station. It was delicious and we were so full!

The girl I was with had to leave then, so I dropped my things off at the hostel and headed for Arashiyama. I just barely had time to see the Bambu forest and areas of Kameyama park before it started getting too dark. The sights were awesome! So near the mountains!

Headed back home to pack and noticed I wouldn't be able to fit everything into my bag... ^^;

The staff at my hostel are so adorable! They were so interested about Finland when we talked the last time and they seemed to have taken a liking in me and my attempts at Japanese XD Well, the feeling is mutual!

I rode the Kodama from Kyoto Station to Tokyo Station and hurried off to my next hostel that was by the Hibiya Line, quite close to Asakusa actually. So far I've still liked Asakusa better as a place to stay at. I got off at my station and looked around and hadn't been standing for long until a Japanese man asked me where I was heading. I've heard that in Tokyo they don't really stop to help you, but with my experience that hasn't been true so far. He even stopped another man and asked further directions and then walked me all the way to the hostel, saying he was 'hima' = had time to spend ^^

I have a nice Japanese style room. Left my bags and hurried out the hostel because I wanted to go to Nakano and buy old Johnnys magazines. I don't know how Cata and I got off the last time, because we walked for a while then asked directions from an old lady who showed us to Broadway's Mandrake, but I got out from an exit that had this 'inner' shopping street right in front of it. Broadway was right at the end of it. I recommend to fellow fans the 2nd and 3rd level for Johnny's stuff, doujinshis etc ^^
I found, by accident really, this doujinshi of Death Note's Light&L. I loved the series (up until a certain plot twist D:) and I had always wanted a good doujinshi about them two! So much UST in the series and they are even handcuffed! Do recommend to my fellow slash fans ^____~
I also found a HayaRyu doujinshi, which seems interesting so far (still reading - slowly because I'm translating and don't want it to end too fast)! I've been re-reading my previous magazines and doujinshis so far every night in my hostel room. I somehow found my way to the store that sells the old magazines and picked a Myojo on my way <3 It's from 2006. I wanted one with Jin still there <3

After this I hurried back and met A-san again <3 We had fun in Harajuku AGAIN *lol* and I finally bought new straps for my phone - KinKi that I wanted after having seen them <3
...And Jin's concert for 14.1.2011 was still on sale in the ticket store on Takeshitadori, so I ended up buying a ticket for tomorrow night's show for only 2500 yen! The seats were quite good too! Though the Arena would've costed a few 10 000 yens at least!

Then we went to eat at this burger place in Takedanobaba and she helped me so much from a terrible pinch with my suddenly non-working credit card D: Really hope we'll be able to meet again sometime soon!

It was football night, Asian cup, and I have a TV in my room, so I watched the match between Japan and Syria. Japan won 2-1!! I squealed (quietly) because it was really late! The match started at 1am. Didn't get much sleep, but it was so worth it! *football fan all thanks to Cata <3*

Went to meet a Japanese friend in her hometown in the Saitama area. She showed me around, I bought some sweets and stuff to bring home, then she even showed me the way to Saitama Super Arena and I bought myself something for the concert. They didn't sell uchiwas (Jin doesn't seem to like them, I've heard?) or penlights, so during the concert there weren't that many lights as I'm used to there being during a Johnny's con.

But before the con report I have to say this first (skip on if you like):
Someone asked me online that why can I go see Jin and feel bad about seeing 5nin KAT-TUN. Well, honestly, I did feel a little sad seeing Jin there alone, but it's still different to me because the guys all do solo things (solo cons, movies, dramas, shows etc). And since KAT-TUN was the first Johnny's band I became a fan of they meant the most to me. I'm sure 5nin KAT-TUN is great too and I might even go see them someday, I just know I'll still feel sad especially whenever someone else sings Jin's parts (like in Real Face!). I loved the harmony of Kame and Jin's voices together.
But this is just my (weird?) thoughts and feelings, and I don't mean to hurt anyone else's feelings. I know this is a sensitive topic in itself. It's just to me (the real face) KAT-TUN will always be 6 members. And seeing one missing (no matter who it is) will feel in a way incomplete to me. I'm the type of fan, who can't help but to have this silly neverfading hope of seeing KAT-TUN, NewS and Kanjani8 whole again despite everything the agency, Johnny and anyone else says. Despite how impossible ^^; I stepped into this fandom when they were all still there in their respective groups.

I got to my seat and there was a dj playing everything from Lady Gaga to...well, artists I don't know because I suck at western artists these days ^^;;

Anyway the con started with these four guys, speaking in English all the time though (at least) one was Japanese (?) judging from his name that I don't remember anymore XD, coming out at the stage and 'warming' the crowd up. Didn't really work. I'm not sure if that's because they weren't Jin or because the audience didn't understand what they were saying. For once I felt less like a gaijin :Dv

Then they showed a clip of what Jin had done in America during his tour and that brought a reaction in the crowd. Then Jin showed up on stage and the crowd got louder again ^^ (I'm no exception, btw)

I really got more into some of his songs, because I felt they sounded better live. I fell in love with Body Talk. It was so beautiful! And he sang it with such emotion, I think. He kept looking somewhere behind him (and my fangirl mind kept saying: Kame's back stage XD)

Then the screen counted down the years from 3011 to 2011 (had a slight Break the Records con flashback there) and the next thing I know he is singing Care and I am flailing and screaming (not the only one). I can't believe I saw him perform Care!! <3 He messed up the lyrics in the beginning XD Somehow he seemed embarrassed about performing it...or then it was just me.
He had his hat pulled over the other eye and I think it looked as if he was/had been/was about to cry. I think I saw tears roll down his cheeks nearer the end and his voice broke at some points. That made me cry! I had been teary already in Body Talk, but this just broke me. I think the girl next to me was crying too XDv He was totally alone on the stage at that point and the next song was Murasaki <3 Got another flashback from BTR con when he performed the beginning of it with Kame <3

Then the years counted back to 3011. Needless to say that Care, Murasaki, Love Juice and Wonder got the most screams when they started.

He messed up a second time when he was supposed to start a song - can't remember which one it was, but the stage went dark and then he started singing and then the lights were supposed to turn on. Something there he messed up. Bakanishi <3

There were no encores, but instead an announcement about his new single Eternal that we could pre-order after the show. Well, I don't think I can because I don't have a Japanese address ^^;

Anyway, in a whole the concert was good! Enjoyed it a lot! I'm still unsure about his new style sometimes, it's really not always the kind I like and somehow I feel that his voice doesn't come out as strongly in them as it does in his older songs and in some of the ballads. Many of his new songs are so mixed and I think it's kind of sad because in my opinion he has the best voice out of maybe the whole JE.
Lol, who said that the music doesn't count when it comes to the Johnny's? XD (and that just the fan service counts)

There was also a lot of dancing and interacting with both the male and female backup dancers/his buddies. Really liked the dance routines in some dances. He is a good dancer and he knows his stage.

Gosh I'm so late in both updating and replying ^^; Have to go to pack soon so here was a fast update. Don't wanna leave, but am missing everyone at home <3
