Chapter 79
Damn Pi.
Whenever Jin didn’t want his stupid best friend to show up, like when he’s trying to warm Kame up over the phone, then the leader came and ruined it all, but when he wanted Pi to show up the leader didn’t.
Jin brought his beer back to his lips, trying not to admit to himself that he had stalked this bar for a few nights in a row so he could check what state of mind the earlier discussion Kame had had with Pi had left his best friend in. It was so many years ago, but he could tell how the mere mentioning of Pi’s father could flip his best friend out. He kept forgetting that just like his boyfriend, his best friend suffered from a trauma of his own. Maybe that was why Pi seemed to sometimes understand Kazu-chan better than he did, but this time he wasn’t there to talk about Kame and him. He just wanted to sit with his best friend for hours and talk about a lot of nonsense. That was the best way they could help each other.
So where the hell was that damn guy? The bastard wasn’t even answering his phone!
“Why are you sitting here alone?”
Jin shut the shell on his phone, sending a look over his shoulder and finding his entire gang gathered behind him. He turned back to the counter and drank from his beer. “Kazu-chan is working the night shift. He won’t be back until morning, so I have nothing really to do.”
“You’re not with Yamapi?” Maru asked.
“I haven’t seen him for a few nights.” Jin shrugged, trying to appear indifferent about the matter so his gang wouldn’t figure out how worried he truly was.
The four gangsters took seats next to him by the counter, ordering drinks for themselves too.
“How’s it going with Kame-chan?” Ueda asked then. “He’s seemed a little lost in his thoughts lately.”
“The other day he served me an empty plate.” Junno added, as an example of what Ueda had just said.
“Yeah, I’ve noticed.” Jin replied.
“Has that got something to do with you?” Koki teased, nudging him in the side. “Have you done something to make him space out all the time?”
“Like in prison.” Junno added with a smile. “I swear some mornings he just couldn’t stop staring at you…”
“I’d love to take credit for it, but I don’t really know what’s going on inside his head right now.” Jin replied. There was something Kame wasn’t telling him, but he was afraid to ask what it was because Kame had started acting strange right after almost crossing the border again. He didn’t want to the answer to be that Kame still thought of leaving.
“Well, he hasn’t been dealing with everything but for a few months now. Give him some more time. He doesn’t know himself what’s going on in his head. It’s a confusing time when what you knew as pain suddenly becomes pleasure…” Koki said and suddenly realized how the entire gang studied him quietly. “I mean, that’s how I’d imagine one would feel in his shoes.” the rapper added quickly. “Anyway, if I was to give you some advice it would be to just let him have fun and forget about everything once in a while. That way, before he knows it life will start tasting really sweet again.”
“Just don’t take him to a bathhouse again.” Junno added and Jin ignored him.
“Actually Pi and I have been working on something along those lines.” the leader said. “We’ve been trying to get him to remember moments between us that were good, so he’d stop focusing on the bad ones…”
“You guys are aiming to trigger his memories?” Ueda asked and the four gang mates shot each other knowing looks.
“He is pretty stubborn so when he sets his mind on something he won’t change it easily. If he set it back to enjoying physical pleasure then he won’t change it again so easily.” Jin said. “Problem is that it isn’t as simple as it sounds. We need to find a memory strong enough to convert him back, one he won’t push away because it makes him feel uncomfortable remembering it.”
“We know what to do!” TTUN squeaked together in excitement.
“How do I have a bad feeling about this?” Jin asked, eyeing suspiciously them all in turn, but they just shot him innocent looks back.
“It’s our fault too that Kame-chan has problems letting go off his role as your boy toy.” Ueda said. “With the way we acted in prison and even on the outside we only strengthened the idea of him being below you. We said things not even thinking what our words could do to someone in Kame-chan’s position. We just assumed he wouldn’t take it to heart. We always treated him like he belonged to you and never even questioned the possibility that he wouldn’t want to be with you or wouldn’t do anything for you, so even on the outside we went to talk him into helping you out and he left his family and school behind him to do that.”
“Not to mention how we chained him to the ceiling half-naked in the old torture chamber on your birthday.” Maru added, a bit shamefully. “That’s why we need to do something to help him. He’s always accepted us for who we are and never looked down on us. On the contrary he’s made us feel good about ourselves, now it’s time for us to return the favour.”
“He helped us out when we were in a pinch, now we can do the same for him.” Koki continued. “We’ll stand by his side too just as firmly.”
“He’s never asked us for anything, so even if it’s by a long shot that what we’ll do for him will actually work it’s still worth a try.” Junno said. “We have to do something for him, no matter how small.”
Not really knowing what he was agreeing to Jin said, “Okay, you can help.”
~*~*~*~
“I’m back!” Kame called, closing the front door behind him and listened for a reply. Jin didn’t seem to be here, which meant he could just go straight to the bedroom and sleep off all the exhaustion.
He yawned as he slipped out of his shoes and jacket and steered his feet towards the bedroom, losing a shirt on the way and dreaming about changing into his comfortable pyjamas, but as he pushed open the door he was startled by a figure already occupying the bed.
“Oh god, Jin, you scared me! Were you asleep? Why didn’t you answer me?” Kame said, taking then a better look at his boyfriend, who seemed to be tied down in the figure of an x. He very much doubted Jin had managed to accomplish that by himself and then there was a card stuck in Jin’s mouth too. Jin didn’t look very happy about his situation.
Approaching the bed, Kame freed the pissed off looking guy from the card and read it.
To Kame-chan,
A belated birthday gift.
From your boy friends and boyfriend <3
“What’s going on?” he asked, shifting his gaze to Jin.
“I was ambushed!” the leader immediately replied. “Those bastards got me drunk and the next thing I know I wake up with a terrible headache, tied to this bed and with a freaking card stuck in my mouth! Just wait until I get my hands on those four…!”
“…TTUN did this?” Kame guessed based on the description Jin had just provided him with. “Or was it Yamapi and some News members?”
“The former, though I’m surprised the later hasn’t tried to resort to this by now…” Jin muttered, wriggling around and judging from the faint marks on Jin’s wrists this wasn’t the first time Jin had tried to get free.
“I’ll untie you, just wait a second…” Kame said, grabbing a knot by one of Jin’s wrists, but stopped before he even began to untie Jin.
Actually, maybe he should wait until Jin cooled down. If he let Jin loose now the leader would go after his poor gang mates.
But what if Jin felt sick? How much had Jin drunk?
As he was unsure of what to do Jin, who had flopped down defeated on the bed in hope of Kame freeing him, cocked his head into his direction. “Not going to untie me? Are you enjoying this?”
A blush rose to his face and he hurried to start working on the knot. “I-I’m untying you!”
“Ah, forget it. You’ll only hurt your fingers trying. Those guys know how to tie knots. It’ll be easiest to cut me loose.” Jin added and Kame let go of the rope, rising from the bed.
“I’ll go see what I can find in the kitchen…” he said and was well on his way out the room when Jin’s voice made him halt.
“Do not take the kitchen knife to the bed! I’m sure you know how to use it in the kitchen, but my wrists are not carrots! I don’t want that sharp, large knife anywhere near this bed!”
Kame turned back. “Then…I’ll go find TTUN and ask them to set you free-”
“Do you really think they will after they tied me down themselves?” Jin pointed out. “If it’s up to them I’ll be lying here like this until tomorrow and you’re definitely not telling any News members about this, got it?”
Kame slowly approached the bed again. “Then what should we do?”
Jin smiled, noting how his headache seemed to have disappeared along with his bad mood. He had felt rather betrayed and undignified waking up outmanoeuvred like this, but right now he was quite comfy. After all, the phone sex idea hadn’t worked out and every time he had called Kame after that Kame never picked up and instead sent him an apologetic message back, saying he was too busy or hadn’t noticed his call, which was of course always a lie.
This was something he hadn’t tried and would definitely never have asked Pi to help him with.
“Take advantage of the situation a bit?” Jin suggested and as the other boy shot him a startled look filled with prejudice Jin added, “Hey, I don’t expect a re-run of what happened on your birthday and I definitely don’t hope you’ll be as reckless either, but like this I can’t do anything to you. I can’t even touch you. Besides we shouldn’t let TTUN’s efforts go to waste…”
Though he was still going to kill his gang mates later on…
Kame wasn’t very convinced that this was a good idea. Even if he didn’t have to worry about Jin’s hands going wandering off on his body Jin’s eyes sure did and exactly what was Jin expecting him to do?
Jin’s chuckle forced him out of his thoughts and he met the other man’s gaze again. “Don’t look so troubled. Do you really think after all this time I’d ask that of you while lying here passive and unable to even reach out for you?” Jin said. “Quit worrying and kiss me.”
The frown from Kame’s forehead slowly disappeared as he climbed closer to Jin, leaning in so his hair fell onto Jin’s skin as he sealed his lips on the other boy’s in a simple kiss. Jin was smiling as they parted.
“You’ve been drinking latte.” the leader commented, brushing his tongue over his lips and added, “With extra cream.”
“You wouldn’t be thinking of asking me to fetch the cream from the kitchen, would you?” Kame asked and Jin gave him an innocent, but still so playful look.
“Of course not.” the older boy replied, the tone in his voice giving him away immediately and he added, “…Would you?”
“Fetch it yourself.” Kame replied with a smile. “Or be satisfied with what I taste like. I’ve had a long shift and I needed that coffee.” he added before kissing Jin a bit longer this time and as their lips parted Jin still refused to set his head back onto the pillow and instead buried his face into the side of Kame’s neck.
“I like the way you taste…everywhere.” Jin murmured, lips massaging his skin gently making Kame shiver. “I remember craving to taste you for so long and then the first time I kissed you, you tasted like me.”
A small blush spread over his face as Kame recalled why.
“You’ll never let me live it down, will you?” he asked and Jin shook his head before lifting it to reach his lips again, but Kame didn’t close the distance between them. “Why did you kiss me that time?”
Jin tried to shrug, but failed and rested his head against the pillow instead. “You just looked so adorable I couldn’t help myself. You were begging me to let you stay in my cell and even though I knew you were just asking for my protection, I liked hearing you say that.”
“It wasn’t just about receiving your protection.” Kame corrected. “At that time…you were confusing me and I had begun to really want to stay.”
Jin raised an eyebrow. “Confusing you?”
“You had begun to stay over in my bed for the whole night, holding me as if I was your lover and I started to feel lonely whenever you returned to your own bed.” Kame admitted, shifting position on the bed uncomfortably.
“I couldn’t stay in your bed. I forced myself out of it every time.” Jin replied and Kame was surprised to hear that. Why would Jin have to force himself to do anything he didn’t want to? And with his own boy toy no less. “You were confusing me too and every time I stayed over I just got more confused. I was afraid I’d get too used to it and like you too much. You were getting a too strong hold on me, so some nights I just had to put a distance between us. Could you never tell? Didn’t you ever know how dependent I was of you? How much power you really had over me? I needed you more than you ever needed me.”
Kame had to smile a bit at that. “Why would you say that when you were the one who owned me and protected me? Without you I wouldn’t have survived a day let alone a night.”
“When I had to give you up I felt just like that. When I tried to keep a distance to you outside prison I felt like that again.” Jin replied and Kame just stared at him. “Before I even noticed it you became something irreplaceable to me and you still are. That’s why, no matter what more obstacles come in our way, I’ll never give you up again.”
A wide smile spread over Kame’s lips. That was exactly what he had wanted to hear the most. Masa was wrong.
Jin wasn’t sure what he had said that made Kame kiss him before he could let out another word and from that moment forward Jin preferred silence. Automatically he lifted his arms to close them around the form hovering above him, but the ropes wouldn’t allow him that pleasure. It drove him mad to be lying tied down and unable to move as Kame kissed him like that and he had to bite back a groan as Kame suddenly switched position above him, swinging a leg over his hips and breaking the kiss to shoot him a quick look, a smile still playing on his lips.
Jin knew what it was that he saw in Kame’s eyes. It promised good. He lifted his head to meet Kame’s face halfway, but Kame purposely missed his lips, pressing kisses down the side of his neck instead and Jin closed his eyes. He was going to enjoy every second of this and it didn’t even bother him so much when the kisses trailed over his collar bones, forcing him to flinch back into the sheets.
Kame paused, pulling away from the sensitive area. He should’ve remembered how ticklish Jin was there. Moving his head a little lower he placed a kiss against Jin’s chest instead. His fingers curled into the soft material of his boyfriend’s shirt, pushing it away to expose more skin he then covered with his lips. Jin was definitely pleased with the attention he was getting and Kame continued lower, switching position above Jin again and by doing so he unintentionally came into contact with an area that called for his attention too. The brief touch made Jin make a sudden futile attempt to get free, startling Kame so he almost fell off the older boy.
With one hand clutching the sheets and the other still holding onto Jin’s messed up shirt, he slowly regained his balance and shot a look at the man under him. Jin yearned to take over and was dangerous even as tied down, but apart from that Jin couldn’t really do anything right now. He had full control over everything. It was an amazing feeling to know that the person, who had ruled over him for years, suddenly was at his mercy. He could take this just as far as he wanted without having to worry about asking Jin to stop in the middle.
Releasing the sheets Kame brought that hand to Jin’s chest, running over it in a teasing manner and felt Jin’s breath speed up another notch. There was no way he was going all the way on top of Jin, but he didn’t feel like stopping just yet either. He wanted to control Jin a bit too, not to get payback, but to continue to see Jin reacting to him and what he did. He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but at the moment he never wanted to set Jin free. He wondered if this was how Jin had felt as his master.
The former master gave out a low groan as he continued to play with his hand, getting re-acquainted with the body just like he had that one morning and familiar rushes of excitement went through him as he continued this game. Something felt different now compared to the previous months and despite the fact that his heart was racing inside his chest, seeing Jin like this under him made him want to pursue this a bit. That way he could continue to watch Jin’s face looking blissful for a little while longer, but what could he do to achieve it?
Then he had a really bad idea.
A little doubtfully Kame switched his position again, this time purposely coming into contact with the same area that desperately needed his attention, but had only been given it briefly once before. A deep moan escaped Jin’s lips and his boyfriend opened his eyes, the gaze practically paralyzing Kame and wanting to escape having to answer any questions he slowly leaned down instead to cover Jin’s lips with his own. Jin hissed in pleasure against his lips, but he could barely focus on the kiss, feeling Jin react under him.
Maybe he had gotten in over his head. He wanted to move and press their lower bodies together, but his body didn’t obey and he was starting to get dizzy. He didn’t feel so much in control anymore and noted sadly that this would probably result the same way as the last time he had tried to practice some dry humping. As some parts of his body were starting to tremble, he quickly concluded he still couldn’t do it.
“J-Jin?” he whispered, pulling away from the contact and sitting up straight. At first he received only a low, protesting groan in response.
“Uh-huh?” Jin managed to let out.
“Could…could we continue this…some other time?” he asked, still barely audible.
He slowly lifted his gaze to meet Jin’s, pleasure still clouded in his boyfriend’s eyes, and Kame hated how he always took that pleasure away from Jin in the most cruellest ways. He shouldn’t have gone so far, knowing he’d have to stop. He was torturing Jin.
“Are…you all right?” was the breathless question and suddenly all Jin could think about was the fact that if Kame panicked now, he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it and maybe there was nothing he could do to help, but he didn’t want to just lie back and watch. As tears formed in his boyfriend’s eyes he gripped the restraining ropes harder. “Kazu?”
Kame managed a somewhat miserable smile.
Jin wasn’t frustrated with him, Jin was concerned for him. ‘Are you all right?’ That was the first thing Jin said in a situation like this? Not ‘Don’t say that again’ or ‘You never let me close’ or ‘Stop already? Can’t we go on just a while longer?’
He suddenly felt dizzy for a whole other reason and he leaned down, whispering into Jin’s ear, “You’re the best boyfriend anyone could ever have.”
Jin didn’t know what to make of the situation as Kame then pressed a kiss on his neck and then another one. He shut his eyes, allowing himself to enjoy Kame’s mouth wandering down from his neck to his chest again avoiding his collar bones this time, while Kame’s hands touched him in a way that assured him Kame had gotten some control of himself again. It was a wonderful torture, which he wanted even if he knew it would end too soon and leave him with a raging hard on. Back in the days that was the last thing he would’ve allowed. Now he longed so much for Kame’s closeness he’d take anything he could get.
Though he wouldn’t have guessed to get this much, as Kame’s hand trailed before the boy’s mouth, hesitantly covering the bulge in his pants Kame had previously been sitting on and making him bite back a hiss in pleasure.
“Kazu!” he said again. “What are you…?” he couldn’t finish that sentence because of lack of air and he had to swallow a dissatisfied moan as Kame removed his hand.
“There are still things I can’t do, but maybe there is also something I can do for you.” Kame said.
“You don’t have to do anything.” Jin replied and Kame met his eyes briefly.
“I know that.” he answered, laying a kiss on Jin’s belly button and then one just under it, and Jin could only think of the touch and the burning need for more. He was damn lucky he was tied down otherwise he would never have been able to stay this immobile while feeling Kame’s hot breathe escape inside his pants and fingers gripped a gentle hold on the edge of his jeans.
Kame shot Jin another look. He was not doing this because he felt he should pleasure Jin. He was doing this because he truly wanted to. He knew that now and remembering that, he slipped the button of Jin’s pants out of its hole, pulling down the zipper then and he heard Jin’s breath hitch.
Kame smiled for himself. This time Jin wouldn’t even be able to tug on his hair, which would make things considerably easier for him. He ran his hand lightly over the bulge hidden only under Jin’s underwear.
Seeing Jin’s face so painted in pleasure made something incredible rush through him and he moved his hand, rubbing slowly through the clothing.
Jin couldn’t describe how wonderful it was to finally be touched by the person he had only been able to fantasize about lately. Somewhere in the room he heard his phone ring, but he could care less right now. Kame didn’t mind it at first either, but as it just kept ringing Kame finally paused what he was doing and sent Jin a look.
“Ignore it.” Jin replied, a little out of breath again, to the unspoken question.
“It could be important.” Kame said.
Nothing was more important than this, Jin wanted to say, but the only thing he could let out right now were moans. Nothing was more important than spending such quality time alone with Kame.
Kame lowered his head to where his hand still was and Jin could feel the boy’s hot breathe again, making him shiver in delight. He wanted that mouth to cover him so badly, but the calls wouldn’t stop and at last there was even banging on the door.
“Akanishi? Kame-chan? Are you guys in there?”
It was Toma. Had it been Yamapi, Jin would’ve ignored it without a second thought, but since it was Toma it might actually be something important. Though that didn’t mean Jin didn’t feel like ignoring it anyway.
Jin groaned. What did fate have against him? Maybe this was his bad karma coming to kick him in the ass for all the bad things he had done in the past.
He gazed upon the irresistible boy sitting up straight on his lap, waiting to see whether Jin wanted to answer the calls or continue. Jin knew which one he wanted to choose and so it killed him to choose the other way.
“Hand me my pocketknife, would you? It’s in my right pocket of my pants.” he sighed and Kame realized Jin would’ve been more than capable of getting out of this with just his own knife. Resisting the urge to comment on that, Kame dug the knife out, placing it into one of Jin’s hands before getting up from the bed to open the door.
“Sorry to barge in on you like this, but I really need to speak with Jin. Is he here?” Toma explained, as he stepped into the apartment.
“Uh, he’ll be with you in just a second.” Kame replied, trying to stall, but Toma seemed to know where to go to find Jin, pushing the bedroom door open. Kame was kind of worried what they would see, but as he dared to look he found a fully dressed Jin rise from the bed, loose from the ropes that lay cut on the sheets. Jin had indeed gotten himself free without a problem it seemed…
“…I’m interrupting, aren’t I?” Toma concluded, sending them both a look, but Kame didn’t meet the gangster’s eyes. As neither said anything Toma decided to back off since it looked as if things were finally going well between the much suffered through pair. He didn’t want to disturb them when they were finally getting closer. “Sorry. We’ll talk later.”
“Wait, Toma!” Jin called after him and Toma stopped in the hall. “What’s up?”
Worry painted the other gangster’s face as Toma turned back to Jin, who entered the hall as well. “It’s Yamapi. He’s gone, I can’t find him anywhere and he won’t answer his phone. I was just wondering if you have any idea where he is.”
“No, I don’t.” Jin replied. “I haven’t seen him for a few days.”
“He hasn’t been back to our apartment for a few days either. The last time I saw him he said he’d go ask you out for a drink.” Toma said and Jin and Kame exchanged looks. Yamapi went missing that night? “He wouldn’t just disappear like that. What if something’s happened to him? What if…”
Toma didn’t complete that sentence, but Jin seemed to know what Toma was getting at.
“I’ll look it up.” the leader said, picking out his cell phone and leaving Kame and Toma alone. Kame wished there was a way to console the man in front of him, but he had no clue of what was going on.
After a short while Jin returned.
“You were right. He’s here.” Jin said and an unreadable expression appeared on Toma’s face. “Let’s go find Pi before he does something stupid. Kame, wait here.”
“Who’s here?” Kame asked, before either could leave and Jin shot Toma a brief look.
“The man, who swindled Yamapi’s father. Mikimoto.” Jin replied before turning towards Toma again. “Yamapi’s probably on his tail. If we find Mikimoto, we find Yamapi.”
“Mikimoto is probably staying in some fancy hotel.” Toma guessed.
“Let’s go. Buckle up, because it might get rough out there. Tell News what we’re doing.” Jin said and Toma nodded, already heading out the door to get some things from his own apartment.
Silently Kame watched as Jin started gathering weapons. He didn’t like the sight of Jin sticking the knife back into his pocket and even taking a gun with him.
“Can I help?” he asked and ready with the ‘buckling up’ Jin stopped by his side.
“No, I’ve got it. Just stay here and wait for me.” the leader replied, taking him by the waist and pulling him in for a long kiss. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Jin promised, lips inches away from his and Kame could tell that sentence bore the unspoken message of ‘and when I am we can continue this.’ Then the leader unwillingly pulled away and left for the door.
He wished he could’ve gone with them as he looked after Jin’s back, disappearing as the door closed behind him, but there was probably nothing he could do. He hated to admit it, but Masa was right about one thing at least. He wasn’t needed by the gangsters in that area.
Suddenly he wasn’t sleepy anymore. He couldn’t have slept even if he had tried and he ended up spending most of the following night lying awake.
There wasn’t a word from Jin before his shift started the next morning. He could only hope the two were doing all right and weren’t in any trouble.
“Morning~!” He was greeted as four gang mates stepped into the diner that morning.
“Good morning.” Kame greeted TTUN back, trying to sound cheerful as he approached the table the gangsters sat down by. “What can I bring you?”
“I’ll have the extra big breakfast. Oh, and could you get me a large cup of coffee too, Kame-cha- I mean, Kame.” Koki said and Kame stopped writing for a moment.
There was something wrong with that sentence. He looked up from his notebook to give the rapper an inquiring look.
“From now on, it’ll be Kame not Kame-chan.” Koki explained. “Or Kame-kun or Kame-san, if you prefer. Whatever’s fine with us…”
“Why?” Was the only thing he could think of asking.
“You never liked us calling you Kame-chan, did you? Then everyone started doing it too.” Ueda said. “We can’t help it what others call you, but with us you won’t need to hear it again.”
What was going on? Where did this sudden change of heart come from? Was it…because of him? Because of how he was acting these days?
“I do like…” Kame started, but decided that finishing that sentence would make him look stupid. It wasn’t like he wanted people to call him that, but it wasn’t as if he hated it either and in a weird way it somehow made him feel closer to most of the people referring to him like that. “I’m fine with Kame-chan.” he said instead. “You’ve always called me that, so it would be weird if you changed it now. Besides, I’m younger than all of you.”
There was this knowing smile on all the four’s faces and Kame did his best to ignore that.
“Okay, Kame-chan.” Koki grinned. “Bring me my coffee then, would you?”
Trying to hide the fact that a mirroring smile was rising to his face as well, Kame wrote the order down.
“So, uh, Akanishi’s not here?” Maru asked, as they were all done with their breakfast orders. The beatboxer threw anxious looks in every corner of the diner and suddenly the four looked guilty instead, obviously on their guard not knowing what Jin would do to them once he was loose.
“Jin and Toma are searching for Yamapi.” Kame replied and the gangsters relaxed a bit. “Something’s wrong.”
“What’s going on?” Koki asked.
“I don’t know.” Kame replied. “Jin and Toma said something about Mikimoto being in town…”
“Oh no, that’s bad news for News.” Junno commented.
“Let’s hope they find Pi before something happens.” Ueda added.
“And that Akanishi will be too occupied with that to remember he still has to kill us for the other night…” Maru mumbled.
“Maybe he won’t even want to kill us.” Koki pointed out, nudging Maru knowingly. “Maybe he’ll thank us. Hey, Kame-chan, how did it go the other day?” the rapper asked and Kame turned a little red, as they all looked at him curiously.
“We don’t need to hear all the dirty details, but…” Maru assured.
“Did it bring back happier memories to you?” Junno wanted to know.
“Yeah, did it trigger something?” Koki asked, looking a little smug.
“You…did that for me?” Kame said.
“Of course.” Ueda replied. “And for Jin. For you both.”
“We’ve been worried about you, Kame-chan. You haven’t been yourself in a while.” Maru said and somehow those words touched Kame. “We want you and Jin to be happy together.”
“Yeah, it keeps Akanishi sane.” Koki added and Kame guessed that went for both of them.
“We support you two!” Junno piped in.
Kame shot them all a warm smile. “I’ll bring you something sweet along with those coffees.”
“But we didn’t order that!” Ueda called after him.
“It’s on the house today.” Kame explained. Actually it was his treat.
“Thanks, Kame-chan!” they called after him.
~*~*~*~
Damn Pi.
Jin had to stop running for a while to catch his breath.
Why go missing now out of all times? He had been so close! The memories of the previous morning were fresh on his mind, not to mention on his body, and he couldn’t stop thinking about it. Kame hadn’t seemed like he would stop either... Ah! The mere thought of how close he had been to feeling Kame’s lips around him drove him insane and here he had been running around in blocks since an inhumanly hour in the morning after searching long into the night for his stupid, missing rival.
He leaned to rest against the nearest wall.
What if Kame wouldn’t be in the same mood once he returned? He had waited for so long and when it finally looked as if he was going to be rewarded for his patience his damn best friend decided to disappear.
Jin slammed his head against the wall a few times, pausing as his cell phone rang.
“I know where Mikimoto is at the moment.” Toma said as he answered the call.
“Meet me there. I’m only twenty minutes away.” Jin replied, shutting his phone and setting off running again.
He was going to get an end to this fast and if he wanted to force Yamapi back with him the only way that would happen was if Toma was on his side.
“Do you have a visual?” Jin asked as he stopped next to Toma, who was keeping an eye on a building.
“I haven’t seen Yamapi yet, but Mikimoto is in there.” Toma replied.
“That means Pi is around here somewhere.” Jin concluded. He knew his best friend’s style. Pi hid well, but the leader’s presence would not go by them unnoticed.
“They’re coming out.” Toma said.
Two large men were accompanying a man in a suit towards his car.
“There’s Pi. He’s making his move. Let’s grab him.” Jin said, as his eyes set on a figure exiting an alley close to theirs in quick steps, heading towards the previous men in a style that didn’t resemble Pi’s at all.
Yamapi only saw one thing right now, making it easy for them to reach the leader and Toma grabbed one arm while Jin grabbed the other, making Yamapi stop abruptly.
“Let go off me!” the News leader ordered. “He’s right there!”
“What are you thinking going over there in broad daylight?” Jin asked, holding the resisting boy tightly.
“He’s getting away!” Yamapi insisted, but neither of the two would let go of him and Mikimoto was soon in his car, which rolled away down the street and disappeared from their sight. “Damn it!” he cursed, brushing himself free and turning accusingly towards them both. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve been shadowing him? He was finally vulnerable!”
“Vulnerable?” Jin repeated. “He had two armed guards, not to mention the security inside the building that would have come to his aid.”
“I can still catch him.” Yamapi muttered, turning to head into the direction the car had went off to when Jin caught his arm again.
“Do you need to get caught by hundreds of cops again?” Jin reminded. “Don’t be so rash. You need to calm down.”
Yamapi threw his hand off again. “Like you’re one to talk! How many times haven’t I stopped you from going over the edge in high speed?”
“That’s why you should know not to do the same.” Jin insisted.
“I’m tired of waiting, being patient and seeking for an opportunity.” Yamapi replied, persistently walking although he knew the two were following him. “It’s been years! I’ll make one happen!”
“I am also tired of waiting, being patient and seeking for opportunities but sometimes that’s what you have to do!” Jin said and Yamapi stopped walking. “If you jump in unprepared and full of anger you won’t defeat him and even if you did you won’t feel good about it!”
Yamapi fisted his hand tightly, still wanting to walk forwards, but he knew Jin was right. He knew what was the wise thing to do, but he didn’t feel like acting smart right now.
“You’ll regret it if this is how you’ll get your revenge. You want to plan it out and lead him into your trap.” Jin added and Yamapi finally turned back towards them again, eyes full of anger, and Toma couldn’t bear the look he received. Yamapi studied him like a traitor, not having expected this kind of treatment from Toma out of everyone.
Jin stepped closer, grabbing a hold on Yamapi’s arm again. “Let’s go. If he’s here for business it means you still have time. We’ll get him, I promise.”
Even though Yamapi didn’t resist it still felt as if they were dragging the leader back to the blocks.
Kame lifted his head as the door opened to the diner and three familiar figures walked in through it, taking a seat by a table somewhere more private and Jin approached the counter then.
“Hey.” the leader said. “We’re finally back.”
“You found Yamapi. That’s a relief.” Kame said. He was happy they had returned before his shift ended.
“Yeah, and believe me it wasn’t easy.” Jin replied. “He hides pretty well and doesn’t yield easily. Could you get us something to eat?”
“Sure.” Kame replied and with a ‘thanks’ Jin returned to the table.
Kame had never seen Yamapi like this, as he brought the gangsters their meals. Yamapi was always composed, never revealing much of himself, but now the gang leader’s face was filled with hate.
Yamapi barely said a thing and neither did he eat anything during the whole time, getting up from the table suddenly. “I’m done. I’ll see you guys later.”
“Wait, Yamapi!” Toma said, flying up from his chair and hurrying after Yamapi, who exited the diner.
Kame watched the scene from the counter and as the two gangsters were outside he made his way over to the table.
“Has this got anything to do with what I said to Yamapi that night?” he asked, afraid to hear the answer, but Jin just eyed him before giving him a small smile, pulling at his apron till he had Kame seated on his lap.
“No, it hasn’t.” Jin replied. “This is happening because Yamapi ran into the one man he shouldn’t have.”
“What are you going to do?” Kame asked, worried.
“For now I’ll just leave it to Toma.” Jin said, eyeing the silhouettes of the two men outside.
“Where are you going?” Toma asked, trying to keep up with his fast leader.
“Don’t worry, I’m not leaving the blocks. You don’t have to babysit me!” Yamapi shot back.
“You’re going to do research on him, aren’t you?” Toma concluded. “Why don’t you get some rest instead? Just for a few hours?”
“I’m not going to rest until that bastard is where I want him.” Yamapi muttered in reply. “I don’t care what I have to do to accomplish that.”
“I understand you want this settled, but you have to think about other things as well. If you wager everything on this then what will you have left after you’ve finished him?” Toma asked, catching Yamapi’s arm. “Please don’t do this.”
“And let them get away with murder?” Yamapi replied, regretting his words after seeing the result of his statement. He averted his gaze from the hurtful look in his boyfriend’s eyes. “I’m not letting him get out of this. He’ll pay for what he did.”
Slipping out of the now rather loose grip Yamapi continued walking, leaving Toma standing there defeated. He could feel Toma’s eyes on his back as he walked down a path he knew would cost him more than it would give him.

Jin exited the diner, his stomach and heart pleased.
He wanted nothing more than to take a refreshing shower and throw himself onto the couch and sleep until Kame got off from work, but he couldn’t help feeling he should check up on Yamapi and make sure the other leader was at least still in the area.
He ended up wasting a few more hours running around looking for Pi at the places he thought the leader might be at, but wasn’t. Giving up Jin decided to check by the apartment as a last place, knowing that even if he called his best friend wouldn’t answer, but on his way there he found another News member instead standing alone in an alley and kicking a football in random directions. One of those uncontrolled kicks sent the ball over to him, earning him Toma’s attention as well.
“I remember you being better than this.” Jin commented, as he toyed with the ball by his feet and kicked it back to Toma then. “What happened?”
Toma turned his gaze at the ball, dribbling it back and forth. “Nothing…”
Jin entered the alley, stopping at a small distance from the other gangster.
“Pass.” he said and Toma met his eyes before passing him the ball. “You’re not with Yamapi?” he asked and the other boy didn’t answer. “He’s on the offensive now. He’ll try to shoot anyone down who comes near him. Don’t let him succeed. He doesn’t mean what he says, he’s just hurting.”
“Like Kame-chan?” Toma asked and Jin’s pass back didn’t go as smoothly as Jin had hoped.
“Yeah, he’s tried to shoot me down too.” Jin replied. “But you’ve just got to be persistent and they’ll run out of bullets eventually.”
Toma passed the ball back to him. “I’m not sure I have the right to say anything to him about this.”
“I don’t know if I have the right to say anything to Kame either, but I know one thing for sure. People like us shouldn’t give up no matter what. If we do then we’re really running away from atoning. Then we’re trash.” Jin replied, kicking the ball once again back to Toma. “I’m going back now to dodge a few bullets. I suggest you do the same.”
Toma watched as Jin turned to exit the alley before giving the ball a kick again.
On his way Jin popped his head into Yamapi’s and Toma’s apartment as planned, finding it was empty, but his wasn’t and he was welcomed by the delightful smell of home cooked food as he stepped inside.
“You’re back already?” Kame asked, as Jin peeked into the kitchen. “I thought that you would probably go look for Yamapi again. This will take a while, so why don’t you rest? You must be tired…”
“I’m really not all that tired.” Jin said, circling closer and Kame almost dropped the chopsticks he was mixing the food with when Jin suddenly grabbed his apron, spinning him around. “Any chance I could return the favour tonight?” the leader asked with a smile, his free hand travelling down to a lower part of Kame’s apron.
“I-It’s not like I did anything that needs returning!” Kame replied, freeing himself and turning back to the pot. “S-so did you find Yamapi?”
Jin let Kame change the subject, seeing as his manners of seduction had been shot down as expected, and he flopped himself onto the living room couch with a groan. “I didn’t see him, but I saw Toma.”
“Toma was alone?” Kame asked from the kitchen door opening. “How was he?”
“He’s been better…” Jin mumbled, shutting his eyes to take that well earned rest after all while Kame continued cooking.

The next day at the diner when Kame had another day shift Toma showed up alone. It really worried him how Yamapi and Toma, who had seemed to get along so well even after having forced to be apart for a long time, were separated again by a thing like this.
“You’re eating alone?” Kame asked, a bit afraid to add the following as Toma looked so down, “Where’s Yamapi?”
“I don’t know. I slept somewhere else last night, so I don’t know if he’s even been to our apartment.” Toma replied. “Either way, I’m going to let Jin handle him. Jin will know what to do. I shouldn’t be around him now.”
Kame realized he must’ve caused Toma to lose his appetite, assuming of course the gangster had had one in the first place, as Toma got up to leave. He should’ve said something more encouraging instead. For the first time in a long time he was in a position to be the one to give someone else strength.
“You if anyone should be there for him now!” Kame called after the gangster, making Toma stop with his hand reached out to open the door. “He needs you! You’re his-”
“He needs Jin!” Toma shouted back, turning to Kame. “He needs the rest of News, he needs Tackey and Tsubasa. He needs anyone who isn’t me!”
Kame had never seen Toma angry before. The man looked like a wreck, but since Jin had said he’d leave it up to Toma to handle Yamapi it meant Jin trusted Toma to do it best.
“You should understand that, right?” Toma added then. “You went through that kind of a situation too. Jin was the last person on earth you could stand having around you.”
The statement threw him off a bit as the fresh memories of his condition from just a few months ago came back to mind. “It wasn’t…that simple. I needed him too. In a way more than anyone I needed him.”
“I killed somebody.” Toma said. “That’s what he sees now when he looks at me.”
“That’s not true!” Kame insisted. “He sees you! Right now you’re the only one who can help him because you’re the person he loves! You just need to be persistent enough and be there for him no matter how much he tries to escape contact, because eventually he will let you in!”
He knew more than well what he was talking about and he wondered if his words had reached the gangster, who left the diner without a reply.
Toma wanted to push those words out, but the further he walked the more they started to convince him. Akanishi and Kame-chan had said the same things and they should know what they were talking about.
He heaved a sigh, halting for a while. They were right. What kind of a boyfriend was he if he didn’t even try and just rolled over and admitted defeat? Yamapi wasn’t thinking clearly right now. His leader was consumed by hate and ready to sacrifice anything for revenge, even himself.
He returned to their apartment to find Yamapi there, packing weapons and material Toma knew the leader used to con people with him. The man didn’t greet him and didn’t stop for a second what he was doing.
“You’re going back there after all?” he concluded.
“If I don’t move now I’ll miss my chance. He’s leaving the country tonight.” Yamapi replied without looking at him. Closing a portfolio and making his way into the hall, but before the leader could pass him by and head out the door Toma grabbed Yamapi’s wrist.
“Wait.”
Yamapi didn’t move, but didn’t meet his eyes now either.
“We will make sure he pays for what he did.” Toma said. “But not like this. We’ll do it everyone together.”
Yamapi finally met his eyes and he saw the same look that had previously sent him backing off.
“Please, don’t leave us behind.” Toma continued. “Don’t leave me. I won’t stop coming after you. You were there for me when I needed you the most, now let me do that for you.”
“You were there for me too.” Yamapi said. “You don’t owe me this.”
The leader tried to move, but Toma wouldn’t let go off his wrist.
“Boyfriends don’t keep scores.” he pointed out stubbornly.
“I’ve been putting this off for years. He hardly remembers who I am anymore.” Yamapi gritted out between his teeth. “I have to do this now or I never will. If I let you all convince me not to then I might forget about revenge again.”
“What would be so awful about that?” Toma asked and Yamapi took a few more steps towards the door, Toma holding onto his wrist tighter. “Weren’t you happier when you didn’t think about getting your revenge?”
“Let go!”
“No!”
“Let go, you don’t know what it’s like to want revenge!” Yamapi shot. “I can’t just let him do what he wants. Other lives could end up the same as mine-”
Fearing Yamapi’s wrist would slip out of his hold eventually Toma threw his free arm around the leader, hugging him tightly from behind.
“Then we’ll get him for this, I promise.” Toma said against the other one’s shoulder. “We’ll all work together and make him pay.”
There were plenty of hurtful things Yamapi knew he could say right now that might make Toma let him go, but none of them made it past his lips and he just stood there rooted to the floor.
“Yamapi, please…”
He felt his tense muscles slowly relax and the portfolio slipped past his grip, as he reached that hand up to touch the ring dangling from his necklace. In the end he knew it was a matter of losing himself while getting revenge or keeping his current life. He also knew which was more important.
“Assemble the rest of the guys and AT-TUN too. Tell them to all meet us in the back room of the S Line in an hour.” Yamapi said then, his voice less tense than before. “There’s something I need to tell them while we figure out what to do with Mikimoto.”
Toma was relieved to hear that and slowly let the leader go. “I’ll go do that.” he said, circling past Yamapi to head out the door when this time his wrist was the one to be grabbed. He sent a questioning look back at Yamapi.
“Toma, I’m…” Yamapi started and Toma smiled, knowing how that sentence would end. He freed himself from the grip.
“I’ll see you in an hour.” he said and as Yamapi gave him a nod he exited the apartment.
