Reccer's Note
Lim is an amazing vidder. Her vids aren't always to my taste so that I fall in love with them, but they are always gorgeous and technically impressive regardless. Sometimes, though, sometimes she produces one that strikes just the right chord and I love it - Mission Report is the penultimate example for me from her back catalog, and if you've seen any of Stargate Atlantis, then I assume you know it.

Her latest vid is a multi-fandom reflection called Flow, representing Sherlock BBC, Elementary, House, The Mentalist, X-Files, and Person of Interest. Lim's always seemed like a pretty private person and if there's a master post for this vid somewhere I don't know its whereabouts (I ran across it via Cesperanza's DW mention), so I really don't know what she intended this vid to say. To me, though, it reads as a fannish experience of connections within shows, within characters, within moments and actions and circumstance and nervous tics. A thousand things that chase themselves around in your brain and link up and make up a mental web of past and present fandoms.

The beauty of it is the fandoms represented are all particularly based on the connections within a certain portion of the real world and people in particular. Those ephemeral touches and hints and clues that all add up to who did what, which person will be the victim (or the perpetrator), the diagnosis, the solution, the answer. Within the vid, though, the connections are the answer, and we love them for it, because that's what fandom is about. We read a book, we watched a show, we watched a movie, then we discovered that the story didn't have to end, wasn't isolated and self-contained, and that connection had a far wider web than we ever dreamed. For me this vid represents the fundamental core of my fannish experience and for that it is glorious.

It's the sort of vid I've already squirreled away on my hard drive and am looking forward to watching a number of times to pick up all the nuances, finding more connections than what I've so far seen.

**Mission Report is available on the same page as Flow - just follow the link and look down the list for its name. :)
