- The Gambit Pileup by MarbleGlove
[Inception/Highlander, Gen, PG-13, 3.268 words]
Summary: The only bank-robbery hostage worse than Arthur is Methos.
Rec note: Well done on account of both fandoms/characters and all around excellent! This is the funny one of the two Inception/Highlander crossovers in this post.
- What Dreams May Come by MarbleGlove
[Inception/Highlander, Gen, PG-13, 2.168 words]
Summary: Methos' mind is not one you'd want to be stuck in, aka the inception team attempts extraction on Adam Pierson.
Rec note: A considerably more spooky Inception/Highlander mash-up than the other one in this recs post, and equally as fantastic, just in a whole different way. So good!
- Me and You and You and You by Verity
[Stargate Atlantis, John/Rodney/Ronon/Teyla, PG, 1.400 words]
Summary: "Ronon's evening mother is probably rolling in her grave right now."
Rec note: I love fandom. Why? Because I can write things like: "And in this awesome fic, the mpreg is completely secondary to the OT4 relationship and the look at Satedan family customs." The best part is that I'm completely serious and it's all true.
- The Boy Who Waited by Lunik
[Avengers/Doctor Who, Amy/Rory referenced, PG, 6.747 words]
Summary: In a world without stars, the Last Centurion loses the Pandorica, loses his charge and loses his mind.
SHIELD takes a chance on hiring a mysterious amnesiac man, and Agent Coulson finds that Rory Williams is the best damn secretary he's ever had.
Rec note: An excellent crossover and a good read. My first reading, the very end seemed a smidge weak, but then I realized it was my fuzziness in the area of the Pandorica storyline. So, extensive knowledge not required, just take the last couple of sentences on faith, and the fic is overall spectacular. ;)
- The Trio Beneath The Temple by seldear (tielan)
[Stargate SG-1/Bones, Jack/Sam background, PG-13, 10.755 words]
Summary: When Brennan is called in to examine a trio of bodies, she discovers a mystery that stymies even her. Who are these three people and what interest does Colonel Sam Carter have in them?
Rec note: A particularly good crossover. Of relevance: Moebius. If you know what happened in that episode of SG-1, then you're good to go.
- Margins by gqgqqt
[Avengers, Clint/Coulson, PG-13, 5.098 words]
Phil doesn’t know what, exactly, but something is wrong.
Clint shows up two hours late to work instead of the usual half-hour, and when he walks into the briefing room, he settles silently in his chair and sits perfectly still.
Rec note: Clint experiences a not-so-good night with a dom (note: not terrible, just not what he needed) and subsequent (bad) sub-drop the next day. This is entirely outside Coulson's experience, but he gets Clint to open up about what's wrong and then tries to figure out how he can make it better. Good.
(Note that I lowered the rating provided by the author - which was Mature - because there is absolutely nothing explicit in the fic itself. There are some serious issues discussed but, honestly, they fall under the category of sex education and after school special for me.)
("After Care of Your Sub and Why it's Important" should be required viewing for all those baby!doms out there, y/y?)
- With A Little Help From My Friends by lucdarling
[Avengers, Gen, PG-13, 3.105 words]
Summary: Darcy Lewis has tased a literal God but that didn't help her last week. That's where the Avengers come in. Darcy has a lot to learn but she's got the best teachers.
Rec note: Great structure and all around excellent fic. There's recovery happening from an unspecified incident which has left Darcy feeling vulnerable.
- Sitz! by Unforgotten
[X-Men, Charles/Erik, R, 5.491 words]
Summary: Several minutes later, Erik's superior mutant mind has managed to override his inferior dog mind long enough to stop licking Charles.
Rec note: My original notes on this bookmark: "This has a good chance of being very, very bad. But I'm going to read it anyway... [*reads*] WooT! Not bad and manages to be quite funny. I can totally live with that." Also, because I can sense the twitching already happening, let me hasten to reassure you that the title does not indicate abuse of the German language within the fic.
- Cut To Fit by kellifer_fic
[Avengers, Thor/Jane, Clint/Darcy, PG, 3.211 words]
Summary: When Jane moves into the mansion, she takes Darcy with her.
Rec note: Once again, Darcy is awesome, but in this case we also have her and Tony's mutual perving sessions. :D
- Red by Medie
[Fairytales, Little Red Riding Hood/The Huntsman, PG-13, 1.121 words]
Summary: One would be cold, the Huntsman imagines, trading a thick coat of fur for bare, human skin.
Rec note: I really like this version with its very unique spin.
- The Adoption of John Watson Holmes by Cyerus
Sherlock Holmes, Gen, PG, 2.949 words]
Summary: Mummy thinks that John Watson is so good for Sherlock that she must endeavor to make sure he stays with her son. If that means she has to force-adopt the man, then so be it. Mycroft is smug. Sherlock is horrified. John is devious.
"-made out to 'John Watson Holmes.'"
The microscope made an unhappy sound as a knob was yanked way past its maximum. Sherlock slowly lifted his head. "...what?"
"And someone deposited 5000 pounds in my bank account," John said, with far more calm than he was feeling.
"What?"
"It was labeled 'allowance.'"
"What?"
Rec note: Utterly delightful!
- In Which Sophie Has a Typical Day by anait
[Howl's Moving Castle, Howl/Sophie, PG, 5.916 words]
Summary: A day in the life of Sophie Pendragon.
Rec note: Lovely! A delightful little fic.
- Even a Miracle Needs a Hand by victoria_p (musesfool)
[Avengers, Clint/Darcy, PG, 11.087 words]
Summary: When Darcy takes Clint home for the holidays as her fake boyfriend, he charms his way into the family, and into her pant- er, heart.
Rec note: Deserves all 278 300 kudos. *sniffles and flails a little*
- Sentiel Event by truthiness_aura
[Avengers, Steve/Tony, PG-13, 6.000 words]
Summary: In which we discover why Logan smokes cigars, what the sparring room in Avengers Mansion smells like, and why Steve is stealing Tony's t-shirts.
Rec note: This is wonderful! Not a typical 'werewolf' story, a bit fluffy, and an all around good read. Loved it!
