One fic and one vid that really can't wait any longer. My brain is short-circuited today, but these are essential to your health and happiness. Really.
First up, the fic! Humane Society is an XMFC fic that has been recced far and wide already, and for the very good reason that it's awesome! I started reading this as a WiP, despite a WiP embargo on my reading list, just because the premise had me giggling like a loon:
(Note: Charles is a human, Erik is a mutant, and they’ve never met before.)
While recruiting mutants to his cause, Erik happens to offend a mutant with the power of transfiguration. He winds up being turned into a kitten and is kicked out onto the streets of New York. Erik is a menacing, self-reliant kitten, yes, but he’s also tiny and susceptible to chills -- and so when a young human professor eventually picks him up and murmurs softly to him and tucks him into his jacket, Erik doesn’t immediately claw him to ribbons.
What followed was 17 comments of fun, quality fic. The author has made me a very happy fangirl indeed and de-annoned, as well as posting the entire thing to a regular LJ post. YAY. Part of its brilliance is the fact that Erik is suddenly faced with the fact that it can be easy to hate a group of people, but a lot harder to condemn them universally when you've suddenly become attached to one. The rest of it is just plain fun with bonus poignancy at the end. If you haven't read it yet (I believe there may be one or two people in fandom who haven't) then I highly recommend you do!

smilebackwards [Charles/Erik, R, 10.000 words]
Summary: Once Erik finally allows himself to decide that Charles is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, he spends the next week being incredibly bitter that he's Charles' cat and not his boyfriend.

The second item is the vid -- a Smallville vid, to be precise. My Delicious bookmark is filled with caps locks along the lines of OH. MY. GOD. This just premiered this weekend at Vividcon and I would have loved to actually see it in a room full of fangirls for the first time. I'm pretty sure no one could breathe by the end because they were laughing too hard, but it would have been memorable to say the very least! This is the Smallville AU vid to watch - not only is it well made, it's... oh god. Watch it. (What do you mean there were never Kryptonite unicorns on Smallville? Are you sure?)
