Rec: Equivalence by Introductory

Feb 03, 2011 17:53

I have to pause and rec a truly exceptional fic coming from the realm of Sherlock Holmes fandom. Oh man, now let's see if I can describe in a way that does it justice.

In short, Anthea is also Anthony, s/he is gender fluid rather than transgender; the author also uses the term 'non-gender-binary-conforming' in the (excellent) intro. The fic itself is about Anthea|Anthony's discovering and coping with this truth. (Coping sounds negative and, at first, it is most certainly a challenge, but s/he succeeds at the challenge in my opinion.) The author notes that they've put a lot of themselves into this fic and the personal experience is probably what makes it shine so well. Ultimately the fic is Anthea|Anthony/Mycroft and the whole thing is just so beautifully written that I highly encourage you to take the time to read it.

Equivalence by introductory
2.000 words, PG-13
"John Watson asks, is that your real name, and you pause for a second and say no. That would imply you only have one."
