I read somewhere that in the minds of suicide bombers, at the very last moment when they are about to hit the detonator, something overcomes them and they want to be told that their cause had always been skewed and whatever they believed in by harming the passengers onboard the aircraft is something they so don't wanna do. At the back of their minds, they just want to be proven wrong at the last moment by some sort of miracle, some sort of higher calling that violence and the mass murdering of innocent people is not the way to go about doing things.
Perhaps this suicide bomber was once upon a time a peaceful person living in a little village in Afghanistan, with its townsfolk minding their own business day to day. One fine day, his village got bombed by the US when Afghanistan refused to disclose if they are protecting Osama (or something like that), which in the end led to the US deploying troops into the country.
You see, this once upon a time peaceful person who used to mind his own business lost his leg to the bombs. However, he failed (which no one can blame him) to realise that he is just this micro organism amongst the grander scheme of things happening around him. To him, its pure and simple. . Losing his leg through no fault of his was something he so did not deserve.
Then came along this cleric which skewed his world by telling him that he should join the cause and exterminate all Westerners. They took his leg, he should take theirs. It did not help further when the bombs dropped by again and this time it took his children along with it. Again he failed (which no one can blame him) to realise that he is just this micro organism amongst the grander scheme of things happening around him. To him, its pure and simple. Losing his innocent children was a huge blow he so did not deserve.
Now in his skewed world, his mind is telling him that since they took his children, he should take theirs too. Soon, other events happening around the world led this poor fella believe in his skewed cause.
Since historic times, the number one cause for starting a war was due to miscommunication and no communication. You see, all these while our suicide bomber never knew about 9/11, didn't know that the bombs happened to drop into his village were because of events around the world and thus never knew why all these happened. Other things happened and thus he failed to understand why. Because he never knew what actually happened. There wasn't a radio available in the village cos people there are prisoners to the notion of Western capitalism. They were simply too poor to afford even a radio. And also, the cleric didn't help. The truth was hidden from him by everything around him which further sunk him into deeper darkness. There was no communication. All he knew was the end result caused him to lose his leg and his kids.
Now back to the plane, with his finger on the button, at the very last moment he began to realise that he was once upon a time a peaceful person that used to mind his own business and was dead set against violence or even the idea of a holy war. However the pain and sorrow just sunk in so deep, it seemed there was no turning back. Nothing seemed to be happening to actually prove to him that his cause to hurt and hate is uncalled for. His judgement has been distorted by the lies happening around him. Deep down he knows that the world could actually still be a nice place to live in and he can go back to being the peaceful person who once used to mind his own business. Scars that depicted loss told him otherwise.
For he is just this micro organism amongst the grander scheme of things happening around him. However, this micro organism soon evolved to become the catalyst which might spark off another set of grander scheme of things to happen in the world.
All because he never knew and it seemed like nothing might take place to be proven wrong.
