The Great Movies- 2001: a space odyssey
I hadn't watched a movie from the Great Movies list since before Christmas, I think.
I've tried to watch this movie before, and actually fell asleep. To be honest, I just can't watch this film. I find it either very boring, or so disturbingly unnerving that I can't watch it. Here's the thing- I'm quite terrified of aliens. Even though you don't see anything in this movie, the general atmosphere make it really scary for me. I also find the HAL computer creepy.
The best things about this movie are the visuals, and the amazing use of sound which obviously inspired directors like James Cameron (in the Alien movies) and George Lucas.
This movie disturbed and annoyed me so much that I ended up watching it on fast forward from the intermission, pausing only to watch certain scenes.
