We'll people keep trying to kill me and no one reads this anyway... A SAC Commander wrote a paper on a possible future epidemic and crisis in the airline industry... somewhat like the exploding ferry boats of the 1800's.
Basically, he stated that in the best of times commercial airliners barely maintained there aircraft fleets. In the worst financial times, proper and complete maintenance falls by the wayside. I suppose it's a bit like oil changes on my car. No money - few and far between oil changes.
This Commander supposed that one of the areas where people would start seeing the serious problems was with the Environmental and Pressurization of the aircraft. Basically, a lot of folks suffering from Hypoxia and Decompression Illness "The Bends" and other related PREVENTABLE Illness.
CNN does not appear to have any articles about the Florida Man who died supposedly from food poisoning. But I was able to find an article about it on another news site. Along with a host of other articles about those "crazy" airline employees; for example, A flight attendant gone mad, a pilot screaming about bombs and such.
Those folks are in the air waaaay more often than almost anyone. Is everyone positive all these incidents are truly and genuinely job stress? Incidentally, the Florida Man's reported symptoms mimic Altitude Sickness a product of a problem in cabin pressure.
The FAA reports that over a BILLION people flew on commercial aircraft in one year. Wow, that's a lot of folks going crazy just to hide an airline industry FAIL. What scares me even more is the current tendency of USA companies to send broken products and 2nds to the Washington DC area. I found myself praying recently on a commercial flight from DC... the plane shook, rattled and rolled about like an ole junkyard clunker. Maybe my family should sue 'cause obviously I'm as insane as that SAC Commander.
"Yehaw! Let's Nuke'em!"
