The Gates to Home
The gold crown on Fire Lord Azulon's head gleamed in the morning sun. Admiral Chan leaned against the railing on the ship's deck, the cool salt breeze refreshing. The Great Gates of Azulon were a welcome sight after three years away from home with the Eastern Fleet. The statues were beautiful: the Fire Lord tall in smooth black marble with gold-trimmed robe, the dragons serpentine in solid gold, jade eyes and finely-worked scales clear to eyes on ships passing underneath. Chan had seen the Gates many times, but never burning--it must be magnificent. He hoped to witness the spectacle someday.
