Don't let your gaurd down.

Osamu paused, wondering if he should write anything else. In the end he decided against it. He just hoped that Ken would take his advice and be cautious; he couldn't afford anything otherwise. Neither of them could.

Posting the comment, he wondered when Ryo would show up; as the brunette was long overdue for some obligatory brain damage. 'Oh well.' he thought to himself. When Ryo did show his face, Osamu would make sure to take advantage of it

Anonymous? And yet the comment was quiet warning. Threat, or benevolent? Difficult to tell from text. Ken paused in his browsings of Mexican legends to study the words for a moment, deciding how best to take them. If anything, experience had taught him to be wary of random people on the internet.

It was not my plan.

Osamu blinked at the reply for several minutes. It was so...so...

So much like his? Yes, it was. Straight, to the point, and almost cold.

How...unsettling...

But maybe Osamu was reading too much into it. After all, his own comment had given Ken no reason to be warm and friendly, and it was good that Ken was, as Osamu hoped, being cautious. Either way, maybe he really should say something more friendly this time. But what?

Good, Happy Holidays.

Osamu considered the compliment, shifting his eyes to the date on his calendar. It was a little early to be wishing people such things...Oh well. It was the best he could do for now.

He stared at the message one last time, then finally posted it.

The first comment had had a benevolent intention, then? This made anonymous' comment all the more strange -- not to mention the early holiday wishing, but that could be overlooked in light of intentionality.

To you as well . . .

Frowning a moment, he added,

Do I know you?

Perhaps it was a friend, after all, who just hadn't logged in.

No, we haven't met. Of course it was a lie, but Osamu had always been comfortable lying. Especially to his brother.

Then why did it matter whether or not he left his guard up? Ken wasn't entirely sure he liked the idea of a stranger, benevolent intentions or not, patrolling his journal. For a moment he considered turning anonymous commenting off.

However, the stranger hadn't done anything bad, either. To turn off commenting now would seem strange. For the moment Ken left it on, dismissing the thought.

Vaguely he wondered what an anonymous commenter would think, then, looking at his journal and reading about talk of an enemy. The thought drew a spark of amusement.

Do you often read my journal?

yes.

He had been keeping tabs on Ken for a while now. But Ken didn't need to know that. Osamu didn't want to sound like a stalker, and after all, he had every brethren right to keep a watchful eye on Ken.

No, I actually stumbled across your entry by accident. lies. But it appeared that you were on edge about some things so I decided to leave a comment. I hope you don't mind.

Osamu sighed to himself. Now he was being completely out of character. But it didn't matter, as long as he kept himself from arousing suspicion, he would continue the act.

No. Thank you for the kind thought.

The "no" was a half-lie; in truth, Ken couldn't decide how he felt about it. For the moment, "Anonymous" seemed harmless, and the goodwill in the words gave him some uncertainty. Proceeding seemed to be fine, though cautiousness would remain.

A wry smile as he scanned briefly back through his entry, wondering how the newcomer took it. Anonymous hadn't seemed to question it, however.

No doubt the entry must seem strange to you, though . . .

And just how *would* one explain it, anyway?

Ah, I am a bit confused, but I've been trying to do some research on these...digimon, you call them? I've seen people mention them in chatrooms, and I never really understood what they were talking about. more lies. Osamu wondered if he should keep count just for the fun of it. It's how I ended up here actually. Could you tell me, what exactly are they? Some sort of roleplaying game, or...?

Well, he did walk into that one.

Game. The word had such negative connotations. Ken felt the corner of his mouth twist slightly, his fingers hovering over the keys.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm the best person to explain.

It wasn't as though digimon were a complete secret any more, though Ken hesitated to explain them or to further indicate his involvement with them. Digimon might no longer be the secret that they had been, but that did not mean that they were readily discussed.

Aside from that, he had the faint, nagging sense that Anonymous understood more than he said. It was nothing in particular in the entries; it was in the timing, the delays . . .

Searching through news archives may help you.

In the end, he was cautious.

Osamu smirked to himself; he was somewhat glad that Ken seemed to be reluctant. After all, Osamu had spent the last few years doing nothing -but- studying digimon, and the last thing he needed was already acquired information. For now it looked like Ken would stay on guard, and he was just fine with that. It's what he had told him to do in the first place, now wasn't it?

I'll do that.

Osamu tallied another lie in his notebook. He was most definitely bored
