So it's Friday the 13th - usually a lucky day for me. Maybe I should play lotto just in case? Hehe. Went to the giant Asian grocery store to fetch some ingredients. Every time I go there it's me, one or two other random non-Asian people, and, well, you guessed it. Again, I wonder what people think when they see us lonely obvious 'foreigners' there - if anything? Heike, a fellow TCK who grew up in 7 Asian countries likes to say she's in fact more Asian than, quote "Asian-Americans" born here in the USA. She has a point, especially considering how so many 1st generation don't even speak their parent's language... I still giggle every time. Firstly, because I can't claim the same with only 3 countries, one of which was Sri Lanka and therefore an entirely different universe, and secondly because... She's almost 6', slender but "strong" in that typical Northern way, and blonde with blue eyes. People have thought before that we were sisters. Anyway, the store is nice in that -- for here -- unusual way as they carry LIVE fish and other seafood. Not just lobster like the American supermarkets but about 30 or 40 different kinds of fish and a bunch of shellfish. And it isn't even in Chinatown. I should take Mom & Dad next time they're here. They'll appreciate the fresh food.

fridayfiver 1. Have you ever gone fishing?
Yes. Deep-sea is the most fun.
2. Do you have an aquarium?
Used to and would love to again. But I'd want it to be an unusual shape and size.
3. Do you eat fish?
I love seafood of {almost} all kinds. An exception would be squid and some of the more obscure Japanese things.
4. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo?
Yes, watched at a friend's house. It was cute and entertaining, if not earth-shattering. The turtle was my favorite. =)
5. What do you think of Sushi?
I like it but won't go out of my way for it. I generally prefer other Asian cuisines to Japanese food.
