Charity & Networking
Did go to the charity event downtown after all. Mike, whom I had asked to go and fill in after I decided not to go, called in the afternoon and asked if I'm sure I couldn't come with. Yeah, okay... I should have known. My poor dateless programmer at a social event, expected to network and talk to people. *Not* so likely but I'm thinking there's hope yet. I thought he'd be fine and wish he would have at least tried. It's time he gets more familiar with this side of the business. Anyway. I went. Made my rounds, sucked up the odd looks of those who tried to figure out if I'm a poster child for the cause or actually one of them... met some of the people I expected to see there and got away as soon as I could. It was worth it and I am glad I went.
