Greek Islands and Girls In Peril

I also finished 2 more of my books this weekend. One was rather short - a debut - the other a travel guide.

"Insight Guides: Greek Islands" ~ 5/10

While I usually love the Insight Guide series, this somehow didn't cut it. I did enjoy it in parts but there was a very English bend to the whole thing which seemed to limit the horizons of the author. He looked at nearly everything from that angle. I was also bothered by the way he described local males. As if all of Greece's male population is out to chase and scam and betray the poor little "Northern European" {as he put it} women. That was rather offensive, not only for the Greek part but also that of the females. All in all it's probably still worth having a peek at if you're planning to go but I've seen far better volumes on Greece.

"Girls in Peril - A Novella" ~ 7/10

Odd but interesting in a nostalgic way. Reminded me of the Yaya clan which probably makes this the equivalent of a chick flick. I've always enjoyed coming of age stories. This one is short and sweet, a beach/patio read on a nice warm day. It should make everyone think of their own childhood and these long hot summers we've all had between girlhood and teenage years. If that's your kind of thing, it comes with recommendation.
