Friday 5 & "Wide Open Spaces"

1. Do you work hard or do you take the easy way out?
Work hard, get things done, then take it easy and *enjoy* doing so. I'm far less industrious when it comes to running personal errands and such, and have no problem lazing about doing nothing at all. But I'm a professional too and at work, will act accordingly. Can't stand slackers when it comes to business and am of the persuation that when you do something at all, you better do it well. 2 extremes really.

2. How's your day going?
So far so good. I've been around the block already and it's Friday morning. What could possibly go wrong from here? =D

3. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Probably around 30. I've taken to throwing away and buying new when they're starting to look old or need fixing. It's really not worth it to get anything fixed here unless it's a special pair.

4. Do you consider yourself cool?
Sure. I'm supercool.

5. What's the last song you listened to?
"Wide Open Spaces" on PBS charity drive. Not usually into country or pop but that's a brilliant song with great lyrics {below} and very much has personal meaning... *S*

WIDE OPEN SPACES
Who doesn't know what I'm talking about?
Who's never left home, who's never struck out?
To find a dream and a life of their own
A place in the clouds, a foundation of stone

Many precede and many will follow
A young girl's dreams no longer hollow
It takes the shape of a place out west
But what it holds for her, she hasn't yet guessed

She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the highest stakes

She traveled this road as a child
Wide-eyed and grinning, she never tired
But now she won't be coming back with the rest
If these are life's lessons, she'll take this test

She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the higher stakes
She knows the higher stakes

As her folks drive away, her dad yells, "Check the Oil"
Her mom stares out the window and says, "I'm a leavin' my girl"
She says, "It didn't seem like that long ago"
When she stood there and let her own folks know

She needed wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the higher stakes
Knows the higher stakes...
