I found this very interesting. I've worked in tourism in the past (in Europe), and have missed a proper number of vacation days to actually travel from the moment I started working in the USA. Now I make my own vacations but damn, it really sucks here when you're working for others. 14 days was the usual amount offered {though not required by law... so theoretically, they *must* not give you any vacation at all}. They usually do *not* let you take it in one go. 1 weeks tops, usually, and I've had more than 1 boss bitch and moan and look at me as if I'm completely insane for even *asking* for vacation, let alone such outrageous amounts as a WHOLE week off!! Best country in the world, you say? Only as long as people are kept ignorant as to how these things {and others} work elsewhere. Heh.
The greatest patriots are those who've never been anywhere.
