Circle of Doom & Bay Cities in Fog

TODAY'S YAHOO HALL OF SHAME:

kkkrahull ---> Yawn, had nothing to say.

binaya_ch ---> Another yaaawn here. Why do people chat you up, then sit there like a statue not saying more than yes and no? I will never get it. I mean, what do they expect? That I talk to myself? THEY contacted me to chat, and not vice versa so WTF? *Sigh*

lowell11168 ---> That one just kept asking for pics like an idiot while not even having any of himself, of course. Then he stated that's because he's married! Like I give a fuck? What's in it for me? Why should I send you all my pictures when you're some freaking married guy and don't even have one single one of yourself? People are so stupid, lol.

serkan_meshur2000 ---> See lowell sans the married part, even though, seeing that the guy was Turkish *in* Turkey and an appropriate age, he was probably married too anyway, lol. This was the 3rd time he did this, being dull and just asking for pictures each time. I hit ignore this time so now he can talk to himself, heh.

...... Yes, yes. It was another thrilling day on the internets!

But I got a lot of work done. Nothing to report for the up side on the chat front today. All of them just sucked and my regulars weren't there. But whatever. These people chatted me up, not vice versa. Perhaps I should become pro-active again and actually pick some people myself who look promising. Heh.

... AND IN OTHER NEWS

A random thought: Anything Dr Dre, Petty, Jane's Addiction & RHCP's song "Under the Bridge" will remind me forever of my time here in SoCal. All 4 have a distinct sound that has been linked to and filed under "L.A." in my mind. I always do that.

I just had another icecold shower.
It's so humid/hot again this afternoon even though late last night, it seemed slightly better and I actually got some sleep. Here I am, talking about the weather... again... sounding like a broken record... funny and probably pretty boring -- but it preoccupies all of our minds at the moment. There's just no way to ignore it when you're *soaked* all day long. And all you do is sit there doing nothing at all!

Meanwhile there've been 56 heat-related deaths in California and it's been power outage galore. Luckily there haven't been any rolling blackouts or permanent power outages in my area. They say the nice, more upscale parts of L.A. go last... I'm starting to believe it. Current Google news page on it all: http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn&q=california%20heatwave

Last night, I went to the drugstore first to pick up my 2 gallons of Arizona brand icetea. Love the Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey {which was recommened to me, thanks S! =)}, and also got a galllon of Diet Green Tea with Ginseng in yet another feeble attempt to save some calories. Meep. I really really love these teas and wish the Mandarine-Orange and Plum one came gallon-size as well. I mix all of the above with some extra water anyway as they're a tad too sweet for my taste -- lots of American things are. But! Arizona teas are <3 and I'm really a big fan. =) http://www.arizonabev.com/csr/home.asp

At the drugstore, I was just looking at stuff somewhere in the back when THE LIGHTS WENT OUT and we were all surrounded by pitch black darkness in the middle of this big store. Everyone went ohhhhhh and aaaahhh and now what; it was funny. I was fleetingly thinking that if one stuffed things into one's clothes now and left, nobody would even notice. Why is it so tempting to get free stuff even when you can afford to buy? It's human nature, I guess. Free = good. Always. Of course I did nothing of the sort either. The last time I stole something from a store I was 12 and longing for expensive lipstick.

After something like 2 minutes, the lights came back on and this *huge* 350lb, smirking woman emerged from the warehouse in the back, looking like it was her who'd caused the outage in order to do something back there. She was staff and I was thinking, "Hmmmmm... Whatever she did, it can't be good".

By the time I was done at the drugstore, it was already afterhours. So I drove all the way out to the ghetto-ish SuperK to see if they had a good fan for me. The drugstore only had these tiny $7 "desk fans" left that are totally useless. I hate Kmart but it's one of the few stores in a 20 mile radius that's actually open 24 hours so I do end up there frequently. So odd that in a place like L.A. more things don't stay open late. {How is this where you all live?} I primarily went because I wanted the big fan... And, you guessed it, they were OUT AGAIN!!! It's so crazy that even the huge chain stores can't keep up with the demand. I feel like I'm living in some communist country where everything is rationed. They did not have ONE single fan left, not of any size. Amazing.

It had cooled down to maybe 75F and was slightly breezy yet still sticky-humid, and there was THICK FOG {!!} moving in from the ocean. Any other time of year, this is not at all unusual. But for midsummer, it really is the first time I've seen it. Beautiful and mysterious-looking but meh... even more sticky heat. I agree with what the girls discussed. Something is very, very off worldwide ever since the big Tsunami hit. It's quite obvious & unsettling. Something tells me there'll be another tsunami of this magnitude... And soon. Here's to hoping that I'm wrong.
