Immigrants invisible in the movies?

So I've been thinking.

Why aren't there more American movies on new immigrants and culture clash?

I just watched a Canadian film called "Double Happiness" (1995) featuring Sandra Oh, about a traditional Chinese family living in Canada. She played the daughter, born in Hong Kong and torn between "old" and "new" ways, family responsibilities and her own aspirations, etc. Some rather forced acting but I really liked it all around. The topic is interesting.

But, I can only think of a handful American films that explore the subject... Which seems rather odd, seeing how this place is errr, *made up* of immigrants? Do people not want to see this? Are there no good scripts? No one who wants to invest? Or it is the old thing about how in this country, people are all supposed to "become American" and leave "the old" behind? Political correctness, perhaps, because they think some ethnic group depicted might be offended and sue? {LOL} I do wonder.

The few films I can think of right now are "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" {Greek}, "Tortilla Soup" {Mexican}, "Big Night" {Italian}... I know I've seen others but very few, and a whole bunch of French, German and English ones but that's not what I'm looking for right now.

Maybe some of you can think of other US or Canadian movies on this topic? Or any, from anywhere? I will google but if you know any, I'd really love some suggestions! =)
