Job hunt, mark 1

Oct 13, 2006 15:57

Hear me rant, yet still proof my resume is out there...

Jeeze, all that stress for such a crappy job.

Ok, so I got together all of the stuff needed this morning and managed to head out at 8 for the 9am appointment. (heading north when I meant to go south, but we won’t mention that..) Found the place, parked, and wandered in 20 minutes ahead of time. Waited, took the silly test, and then finally began getting some details about what the actual position was.

A Financial Advisor is apparently someone who takes care of banking and investment planning for cash flow and retirement purposes.

That’s nice… I guess.

Oh and btw, you’ll need 4 months (approx) of training which you’ll have to pay for yourself ($990).

!

And you’ll be working 65 to 70 hours a week, weekends and evenings heckling your relatives, friends of your relatives, friends, and relatives of friends to come in for a financial consultation.

!!

The only payment you are guaranteed is approximately 1200 per week. If you don’t make your quota of commission, they’ll pay you… and extract the difference between your pay and commission from your next commission.

WTF?!!

And don’t quit your day job, we won’t be hiring you until you finish your training.

As you might have assumed from the glowing synopsis I’ve provided, I declined to move on to the next interview stage. While the job itself sounds mildly interesting, the pressure to generate leads and commission seems enormous.
Blah… Next!
