I was actually wondering something while reading quotes from Draco Malfoy.
If Draco knew Ron Weasley was poor by looking at his hand me down robes, why wouldn't Draco assume that Harry was a poor child as well with his baggy muggle clothes in Madam Malkin's Robes for all Occassions store? Instead, Draco spoke of things to impress Harry without even knowing who he was. With all Draco's Pureblood upbringing, he would know that muggle clothes aren't different typea of wizarding cloaks right? And it being all baggy and old, since Dudley's worn them, why wouldn't Draco assume that the child who just walked in isn't a poor child not worth talking to?
Secretly, I think that Draco lerved Harry at first sight and didn't mind his baggy clothes and muggle look. Instead he wanted to impress this boy in the store who is just so darn good looking. Why else would he talk about things he's heard from his father? Draco's obviously had friend's before Harry came along hence Crabbe and Goyle attaching to his side so quickly upon entering the Hogwarts Express. So it wouldn't be like Harry who want's to find friendship since he's never had friends of his own.
Draco also secretly hates Ronald Billius Weasley. *snickers* Margo, you asked for it after the lego fiasco. Hehe, KAWABUNGA!
