i am the luckiest little bitch there ever was.
today was hectic--punk rock flea market in the a.m. (got three new t-shirts, some buttons, and a vegan cookie for about $23), then driving almost to the jersey shore for danielle's baby shower (at a buffet--sushi!), then bike maintenence, then the journey to festival pier to eavesdrop on the sold-out oasis show i didnt get tix for. on the way, my back wheel went all bollocksy and i ended up having to walk the rest of the way from 12th & pine. when i got there, i seriously considered a scalper's offer, but luckily the ATM denied me the funds i knew i didnt have....tho i still went to the ticket window to see if they had released any more tickets. they didnt, and i was about to just call it a day when some random (slightly creepy) guy comes up to me and says "need a ticket?"
::tired and dejected::"yeah, but i dont have any cash"
"you dont have to give me anything. i got these for free and my friend didn't show. you want one?"
"............. Seriously?"
'Yeah. i'm just not a fan...."
and-i-got-a-fucking-free-ticket-to-oasis free. oasis. for free. he didnt even ask me to do anything gross--he split as soon as we got through the gates. i didnt even have a chance to hug him i was so stunned. the show was brilliant, tho i had my usual goddamn-i'm-too-short viewing problems. there were tons of teenyboppers because Jet opened (i read a book during their set), but i managed to squeeze enough away from most of them for the real show. i was a little disappointed oasis mostly played from the new album, but(!) they played wonderwall--bill had told me they had stopped playing it for a while because noel didnt like the way he played it anymore (they didnt play it at roseland). and i never realized how easily it becomes a really kicking rock song wih a touch of distortion. and liam was so frikkin on--pinstripe blazer and that "yeah, i know i'm the fucking man" attitude. amazing.
i'm still stunned. i got to see oasis. for FREE!!! ::devil horns:: happy early birthday to me!!
(oh and a quick thought about going to a concert by yourself:
pro: you can slip through the crowd on a whim and not have to worry about sticking by anyone in particular
con: you have no peeps to get your back and thus are more at the mercy (if any) of the crowd.
i will say its more fun to go to shows wth friends, but i guess i'm glad i'm at a point where i can be perfectly happy going by myself.
that's all)
to quote noel:
"this really is the last song because i'm fucking wankered."
