New Adventures in Cooking

Jan 10, 2016 18:23

So after chatting with some friends at Beer and Knitting, I decided to get a crockpot. And through the magic of prime it has arrived already.

I made space for it on the counter, which was a small amount of an adventure. A 6qt. pot is larger than  I had been expecting.  I cleaned everything, then I started chopping. I had gone to the grocery store and picked up everything I needed to make beef stew.

So this begins the first of what I hope are many adventures with the crockpot. And the return of me making my meals in advance and having options ready before I am hungry and looking at a slab of frozen chicken.  That never ends well. Working remotely is still a learning process, I will tell myself on Sunday I don’t need to prep meals, since I will be home, and then all of a sudden its Seamless, because, I have deadlines, meetings, and haven’t thawed anything.

I’m starting to collect crockpot recipes and already have, bacon and pork shoulder ready for my next cooking adventure.  I’ve also started looking at all the recipes on the A year of slow cooking blog. I  think I would like the slow cooker going once or twice a week so I can have something like  my Sunday Prep  slow cooker style.  The next adventure will be with a pork shoulder I have in the fridge so we’ll see how this goes.
