4 KCBW Day 1: The House Cup

Apr 22, 2013 07:10

It is Knit and Crochet Blog week once again. 7 days , 7 topics. Let’s get started.

Day One: A bit like Harry Potter, but not quite, this year’s Knitting & Crochet Blog Week is split into 4 houses. Don your favourite knitted or crocheted hat and let it guide you to which house you will be in.

Going through the houses it was clear only two were ones that I felt that I could be in. Here are the descriptions.

The House of Bee: Bees are busy and industrious, but can flit from one interesting project to the next as bright and shiny things capture their interest.

Now what are the reasons I can see that I am a Bee?  Knitting, crochet, spinning, beadwork, jewelry making, and more. And if that wasn’t reason enough, let’s talke about my current WIPs.  There are seven knitting projects that I can remember right now. I’m sure if I looked I could find plenty more. Two in progress spinning projects, and the craft room looks to be in state of disaster because there are always projects going and most times, I’m in that room flitting from project to project. So this would mean I was a bee right?

Not so fast. We still have to talk about the second house.

The House of Monkey: Intelligent and with a fun loving side, Monkeys like to be challenged with every project presenting them with something new and interesting.

Challenges you say. I do like a  challenge. 11 shawls in a year when you’ve only ever made one shawl and it took months on worsted weight? Sure! Knitting with beads? Bring it on! Roasting a duck? Let’s do this. Sweater? Done? Now let’s do a sweater dress.  Hmm the project says one thing, what would happen if I did…this, interesting. I tend to explore in many of my crafty avenues for things I haven’t done before, or that incorporate a new skill.

So I was torn between the two houses. But the more I thought about it the more it became clear that there was really one house for me.

I’ve decided I’m a bee with a monkey tattoo. As much as I enjoy challenges, and trying something new, I feel my best with many things going on around me at once. Whenever I am down to only one project I don’t know what to do with myself because clearly I have nothing to work on.
