This au is one of the best I have ever read. The feel of the setting is spot on and I love the characterisations and the way you have realised everything perfectly. Fantastic stuff! I can't wait for the next installments.

Thanks so much! It will be awhile before the next part, but I have it mostly mapped out.

Oh, this one's as lovely as your first, and I can't wait for the sequel! Poor Ianto, but I love all the characters and your AU setting -- gorgeous!

Thanks! Jack and Ianto are going to go to a different continent at some point in the next one. (Jack just needs to learn as many languages as possible. I have this idea that he knows several alien languages b/c he was a Time Agent, so in the AU he has to pick up on other languages.)

aw...wow. you did a great job with this. very much captured ghana here--good and bad. this story made me very, very sad, though. wonderful job!

It made me sad, too! One of the things I like so much about Torchwood is the lack of discrimination the characters receive whether they are omni, gay, straight, bi, etc. However, in my experience, I don't find it reflected much in the real world, depending on where one goes (although an AU romance novel is not particularly "real world," either, I suppose!). There is a law banning "homosexual activity" in lots of different countries, and though it doesn't seem like Ghana is all that concerned with enforcing it in comparison to other places, it is a real concern and I wanted to address that.
Thanks for reading and commenting!

this is very, very, true. i had written longer comments about my experiences as an hiv/aids volunteer in west africa, but ended up deleting b/c i didn't want to sound like i was passing judgment or anything, but yes, the acceptance that is found within the confines of torchwood does not extend to many other places. i find we struggle with it here a bit in the u.s., if i am being honest.

Totally! Just look at Prop 8. Or don't, cause it still churns my gut just thinking about it.
