It's the Great Snowpocalypse, Sam Winchester!

Feb 06, 2010 10:09

Times when it would be helpful to have a brother like Sam Winchester living across the motel room aisle from me: when the snow is so high, I have to sit on the snow bank and roll myself over to get to the road. Yeah. The snow is still coming down, but for your amusement value, I offer up some pics from 4:15 this morning and then 8:15 this morning. The 4:15 is b/c one little doggy decided that she just had to go out regardless of the "life-threatening" conditions on the road. Dudes, that's what the weather peeps said! Did not stop some people this morning. In the 8:15 walk we passed three dudes shoveling out. But they clearly had a dead body in the trunk and had to get out to dispose of it.

A taste of things to come:

Piper and Milo leading us on.

W/out further ado, the DC-metro area Snowpocalypse, as photographed at the end of a leash:

Piper, having done her business, contemplates the difficult task of getting back inside (4:15).

Shitty quality, but it's snowing, people. That's really the point of this pic. That and did I mention it was 4:15 and I wanted to be snuggled under my covers w/ Milo at my back and Piper snorfling in her bed? Yeah.

Piper and Milo are eagerly anticipating their morning walk. Both have forgotten the snowy conditions. Oh, to be a dog! (8:15)

View from the front steps. You can even see the trail Piper and I blazed at 4:15! It's a little filled in now at 8:15. The snow is probably, hrm, 4 inches deeper? We were getting as much as 2 inches an hour in the overnight. Has definitely tapered off, but still snowing, joy!

Piper seeks shelter in the bush overhang. The wind whipped up a big drift, so she's got this little alley. Perfect beagle-sized.

Piper prepares to break out of her foxhole. Good luck, babycakes!

Hahaha, look at the ickle antennae!

They didn't even attempt to plow out this part of the parking lot. No one important lives back there, anyway.

Two doggies met in a snowy road ...

Piper gets tangled up in blue and refuses to look at the camera.

Piper takes her bundled-up human for a walk. It's windy, yo! And cold. B/c, you know, snow.

The smart one. Willow stayed inside. It's good to be a cat!

There may be more to follow. I performed a snow rescue for Milo, sweet baby boy. And there's still more snow to fall. We are expected to get 24-30 inches. This isn't the end of it! In the meantime, I'm going to light my candle again, just in case. I woke up to such a nice smell this morning! Pomegranate cider.

Oh, and one more thing Sam Winchester would be good for? Reaching the little dessert plates on the top shelf. They're perfect for warming up my homemade cinnamon buns! Speaking of which, I really have to do a cooking post soon!

Everybody take care and I hope you don't lose power or the internet!

no fic, pics, doggies
