MEME: All-Time Favorite Fics

Pick your five all-time favourite pieces of fic, the ones which made you laugh or cry or kicked you in the guts, that became your personal canon, that inspired you to offer the author internets and first born sons, and tell us why you loved them. Any fandom, any pairing, any genre - the only requirement is they stood out from the crowd. Also, links or it didn't happen.
I don't think I've even written comments on some of these, b/c I am *that* fangirl, but I still love them! So here goes:
1. Collective Noun: Pride by misswinterhill: I love this fic. It always makes me smile. It's one of the first fanfics I ever read, and I'm totally glad it was, b/c it helped get me into fandom. The fluff is exquisite and in-character, and leaves me w/ several amazing images.
2. My favorite chapter of "I Had No Idea I Had Been Traveling" by rm and kalichan is To Learn This Holding And The Holding Back -- this is the one w/ the Morning After and the Dancing. I fucking love to dance. I have no grace or sense of rhythm, but I dance all the time. I love this one for the dancing, for the joy, and for the growing pains. And for the incredibly awkward Team Torchwood Morning After.
3. There are lots of sam-storyteller fics I could choose. Probably my favorite scene in any fic is when Jack and Ianto go to the little restaurant in "Naked" and I adore "Dresser," "No Word for Yes," "Ignition" and "Two Centres" -- but my favorite is All I Ain't Got. I like it b/c, well, it's long, so I can savor it, and I love how real Ianto is in it. He really comes across as a perfectly normal, mid-twenties guy whose boyfriend happens to be time traveling at the moment.
4. In Palest Ink by qthelights is my favorite short fic. Most of my other choices are long, but sometimes you want one that you can read quickly and be satisfied. This one is lovely and romantic, and bittersweet and sad, and I love the tenderness between Jack and Ianto here.
5. Not sure if her policy allows me to link this fic, so I'll just say that I love "Go Away a Little Closer" by blackbird-song. The sex is hot, the affection is real, and it is the believable "Jack and Ianto move in together and talk marriage" fic. Probably the only one ever. It's true love, warts and all.
I'm modifying the meme here to include three recent fics (recent to me) that I haven't read 80 bajillion times yet but are growing into all-time favorites:
1. It's hard for me to choose which of neifile7's fics I'd put here, but I'm going to go with The Tale of the Cobbler and the Tailor’s Son. Go read it. I love Jack as a storyteller. This is a lovely example. A tad bittersweet, like good chocolate.
2. I tend to look at Jack & Ianto through rose-colored lenses. cyus tells it closer to reality, I think, in Cardiff's. There's a mutual understanding between Jack & Ianto here, a give-and-take, and it's even a little uplifting! Plus, he didn't make fun of me for leaving a very long comment while drunk.
3. Conversational Japanese, Plus Frogs by gilascave -- funny, touching, awesome characterization. Tosh and Ianto friendship, plus Jack and Ianto sex. And great one-liners!
