It comes out tomorrow and thanks to the sweetness of my sweet I have it today. I crashed the entire afternoon having been wiped out from my trip to Miami for the Opera America Conference -- so I have just begun listening to it.
This is a very different sound for Ms. Amos and her cohorts. She has employed a group of characters hired out of various myth and archetypes. They are Tori (terra-tories), Pip (expiratorial), Santa (sanatorium), Isabel (historical),& Clyde (clitorides). Their individual songs are noted clearly in the liner notes. This album is a little more musically accessable than previous works, but as always there is tapestry work going on. She is far more politically aggressive than she has been on recent works. Should be interesting to see how it evolves after multiple listenings.
