I had decided I was going to live the dream I had way back when I was 13, I was going to be a ninja. So I set out and contacted a local Sensei who agreed to teach me the basics. I was excited, this was it, I was going to become a real life ninja, I bought a full outfit, and all the training tools I needed to live my dream.
The Sensei was a kind man, and very wise, he seemed amused at my endeavor, and was more than willing to give me some pointers.
First up was weapons training, I was excited. The master showed me some pointy thing called Sai, I was pretty good with those, and then the short sword was a lot of fun, as for the nun-chucks…. Well he said I could pay off the window in installments.
Next came acrobatics, every good ninja needs to be light on his feet and perform some stunning moves. First up Sensei suggested something easy like a cartwheel. …. The doctor said it’s only a minor fracture and my arm should heal in a week or so.
Ok, I didn’t do to good on weapons, and acrobatics eluded me, but now was time for the real stuff, no ninja could be complete without knowing how to sneak around. My task was simple, pick a random person, and follow them around without them noticing you. I was excited, I found my mark, a normal looking businessman. I began the hunt. Quickly I learned that although your mark my not notice you, sneaking around in public dressed as a ninja does garner a lot of attention. After a brief disagreement with mall security I had failed my task.
Ok so I didn’t do well as a ninja, I guess I set my standards too high.
But I’m not sad, because I am just going to move on to my other dream, being a fireman.
