Made for round #13 of waywardmixes, OTP. I don't really have OTPs, but Merlin/Gwaine is probably as close as I get? I love these two boys!
Merlin is Arthur's manservant in this version of the legends, helping Arthur on his way to become a great king. Much is made of Arthur and Merlin's destiny.
Gwaine is a wanderer who is eventually made a knight of Camelot. He drinks a lot, gambles at lot, and dislikes most nobles after his king betrayed his family.
Merlin and Gwaine meet in a tavern, when Gwaine helps Merlin and Arthur in a fight. Before Gwaine is made a knight, he and Merlin go on a few quests together, mainly to rescue Arthur. Gwaine goes on the quests to help Merlin, not Arthur.
They may not have a destiny, but they choose each other, and that's just as strong as destiny.
