my ode to Halloween

Oct 31, 2005 23:16

Since I have nothing better to do...I wrote this...about Halloween. And it's not, um, very good. It's really not...

All hallow’s eve
brings all hallow’s leaves
cascading down
brittle and brown

The tricks and the treats
the roaming of streets
ghouls, zombies, and hags
filling up their treat bags

Ghosts with shuffling feet
tripping over white sheets
stumbling on sidewalk cracks
eating sugary snacks

Traipsing door to door
earning candies galore -
in the following weeks
comes rotting of teeth

All hallow’s eve
brings all hallow’s screams
piercing the night
and causing a fright

Soon all hallow’s eve
brings all hallow’s dreams
thoughts of all hallow’s fears
retire until next year

Sounds like a kids book or something, except that it's not long enough to be a book. Or good enough. Maybe I should illustrate it though. Especially the rotting of teeth part.

This Halloween has not been very exciting. Oh, except for the early birthday cupcakes from Heather and Lindsay! Thank you Heather and Lindsay! :)

That is all. Very soon I will be OLD. Goodnight.
