Since I haven't had much luck with the whole finding a 'real job' deal, I've been applying at all the kennels I can find in the yellow pages, figuring that at some point someone will quit and then I'll be in line to step in. I'm a little overqualified to scoop poop, but the rest of the work is ok, and I'm going batty without a schedule. Just driving around the past couple days has been nice, the weather is good and I've been stopping at my garden after applying. The other day going through Tumwater, I saw the weirdest thing. Laying on somebody's lawn, behind a big chainlink fence, was a 2 foot long tortoise! He (she?) was munching on the grass in the rain, which didn't seem to bother it, though he pulled his head in when he saw me watching him. So I walked off a ways so as not to disturb him, and he booked it for his back yard. So much for not disturbing him. Note: There are no big land tortoises native to Western Washington, no big reptiles at all. Western pond turtles and garder snakes are about as big as they get.
