After that really depressing post, I wanted a chance to offer some thoughts that have cheered me up.
Since I am no longer deploying, I get to spend my next summer in California... Something I have not gotten to do in a long time. I plan to buy a surf board and do a lot of surfing when my back heals.
Also, I completed my application to study English in the UK, which I can't submit until October. Though I'm confident I'll get in (4.0 gpa, honors societies, awesome recommendations from military command elements), I've decided I won't go and here's why:
Living in the UK is something I've wanted to do for a long time, but film is something I've wanted to do since I was 8. I never planned on living in the UK forever and going to school there would leave me broke. My GI bill would pay for my tuition and apartment of up to $2,000, but i can find a nice place for under $1,250 and use the rest to live off. Id be able to get a part time job to pay for any extra stuff I want to do like shows or something. I would be able to keep $25-30 in savings and establish myself in a place that has always felt like home doing something I know I love. So in a few weeks I'm going to an open house at the NYFA and eventually enroll to attend in September '13 to study producing.
I'm also going to get a Vespa.
And I just realized I can now go to Dinah Shore. Holy fuck.
