I appreciate your efforts to enlighten us and all, but I should warn you that sometimes yahoo news is VERY wrong. I'm not making a comment on this article, cause I don't know either way, but I know of two other times when yahoo has exaggerated to a severe degree.

as always, we should be aware that what we are reading is biased... not only does yahoo exaggerate but the boston globe, NY times, and numerous other major papers do as well. In fact, a better way to get the news would be NPR and the BBC news... both of which have commented on the dimond trade in Africa. This article is close to right on, and I know that for a fact.. but randy is right to bring this up and just know that newspapers lie too!

We have been talking about this in my sociology class, I can get you some more essays if you'd like. The whole thing is so sick, the west is still benefiting from the sweat and poverty of Africa.
