It is quiet in the apartment.

Moiraine has settled herself by the window with a book, but the text is being ignored in favor of the view.

There is a thoughtful look on her face.

She can see, then, someone get out of the lumbering Cherokee and come up the walk.

A minute later, there's a knock on the door.

"Come in," she calls, without moving.

[spcl_agt_cooper]

Cooper sticks his head in first. "Hello, Moiraine." With a small smile.

[blue_ajah]

She looks up at him, and a slight smile curves her lips in response.

"Hello, Dale. How are matters with you?"

[spcl_agt_cooper]

"Dull," he says, after a moment's thought (and after coming in and closing the door). "I think I like it. For now. And there were four deer in the road coming up from Colville -- it took them about twenty minutes to move out of the road."

It apparently did not occur to Cooper to honk at them in order to make them disperse.

[blue_ajah]

"It sounds peaceful," she observes. "Despite the delay."

[spcl_agt_cooper]

"It certainly wasn't a bad drive." He comes over and looks out the window. "How are you doing today?"

[blue_ajah]

"Not unwell," she replies, setting aside her book.

(It is a very battered paperback; she appears to be about a quarter of the way through.)

"I have been watching the trees."

[spcl_agt_cooper]

Were they any other people, were this any other town, the question might be playful.

"See anything?"

[blue_ajah]

She smiles again, faintly, understanding what lies beneath the seemingly-casual query.

"Nothing unusual. Think of it as an exercise in meditation, if you would like."

[spcl_agt_cooper]

Cooper nods.

Glances at her.

"Not unwell," he says, mildly, "isn't well."

[blue_ajah]

"Mmm," she replies, noncommittally.

"Well enough, then, if you would prefer?"

[spcl_agt_cooper]

He wouldn't, as it happens.

Cooper nods, and looks out the window. "There's cherry pie at the Double R today. Fresh."

[blue_ajah]

Moiraine glances up at him, and a flicker of curiosity is visible in the dark eyes.

"Is it so?"

[spcl_agt_cooper]

"One way to find out for sure."

[blue_ajah]

"So it would seem," the Aes Sedai agrees.

She brushes one hand over her skirt, smoothing it, then rises from her seat.
