"If you keep your wick trimed
you'll go with him"

What is wick-trimming?  Spiritual circumcision?  A Metaphysical Brazilian Waxing?  Dude, I'm not down with that.

"World War III
That's Obama's plan
for you and me"

OK, that's pretty funny.

Gave it another whirl. Dude is nutters. Starts out with music that made my ears frown and then, boom!, he bursts into song. Wow. And the lyrics are a weird mishmash of political commentary a la Fox News, Obama hate, and a sermon?

Well, I can say I've seen insanity today. Yay!

So, do you think we can avert a second Great Depression by this Thursday and raise the Debt Ceiling? I'm not optimistic.

I'm not optimistic either. I can't believe they allowed the gov't to shut down. There are some colossal idiots in our gov't right now. It's scary. They are destabilizing their country worse than any terrorist could.

Amen.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather see a default if it would mean that the tactic of using the debt ceiling as extortion would end once and for all.

It will be no good thing if the debt ceiling is raised only to face this same crisis six weeks from now.

All some of them have in their hand to play are extortion tactics. They have zero good ideas and their policies are based on emotion, prejudices or special interests, so they can't exert any real power or get wins except in underhanded ways. They've been playing these games for quite some time. And getting away with it.

Maybe if enough people suffer or are outraged, it might have a positive ripple effect and rid our gov't of some bullshit later. We'll see, Americans can be astonishingly apathetic.

We're on the same page.

I like to think what we're seeing is the reductio ad absurdum of the Republican Party, in the form of the Tea Party, after a 30 odd year rightward cycle, and the beginning of a new leftward cycle. But we'll see.
