Japan and China are bickering over a couple of uninhabited islands off their coasts. Normally I don't like to interject myself into other people's arguments, but I think I have the perfect way to resolve the dispute, without a loss of life, and moreover in a way that would benefit (or at least entertain) all mankind. Have Japanese and Chinese robots fight each other on the island for its control! Have a Robot War! On Robot Island! Set some ground rules, have it monitored by the the UN, record it on TV. The money generated from the TV rights alone would more than compensate the loser for the loss of these isolated rocky pimples. And the quantum leaps in robotic technology made in the process would benefit all mankind (at least until the singularity, when robots become as smart as humans--it's probably all downhill from there).
It would probably be so popular (and lucrative) that Japan and China would decide to hold a Robot War every five years.
Maybe other countries would be invited to participate, much like "Ninja Warrior." Maybe Robot Island could be used settle all international disputes in the future!
My money is on Japan though.
Mechagodzilla!
