Oh the drama...

It's been one long crazy weekend. So far my summer has consisted of mostly work and the occassional hanging out with friends. But this weekend takes the cake of most eventful weekend of the summer so far.
On Friday I had the day off, so my mother and I went to my aunt's house to go through my grandmother's things. Aunt Geri has apparently wanted us to go over there for some time. It was nice to hear some stories that I never knew about my grandma from Geri and my mom. I now have a bunch of brooches and pearls of my grandma's. I like them because they still smell like her, it reminds me of her hugs.
After that adventure I came home and just kind of hung around. Jeff and Rachel's wedding was on Saturday so on Friday night I rocked out to some old school Michael Jackson while plucking my eyebrows and painting my nails. Steph came over for a brief bit and then I went to bed.
On Saturday I woke up early to shower and get ready for the wedding. The wedding was to take place in Glencoe, IL at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Knowing this ahead of time I talked it over with mom and we planned to go into the city early--to Evanston--to meet up with Matt. We ate some delicious lunch at Noodles & Company and then went to see X-Men III: The Last Stand. It was my second time seeing the film since I went to the 12:02 showing on Friday morning with some Glo Jo's kids. The movie was definitely better the first time around. After the movie mom and I departed Evanston leaving Matt to take the train back from whence he came. I drove us ladies to the Westfield Mall: did you know that we had outdoor malls in Illinois?! Because I sure the hell didn't! It was like I had walked through space and I was in California. Anyway, Mom had been determining whether or not her outfit for the wedding was formal enough, so we decided to check out Nordstrom's and a few other places. Nothing was better than what she had brought so we ended up changing into our wedding clothes in Nordstrom's Women's Lounge. And then we finished getting ready in the parking lot of the mall. Who would have thunk that we would be getting dressed and ready for a wedding in a dirty parking lot? Crazy. It sure was a sight to see.
We got to the wedding and it was georgious! The wedding ceremony was a Jewish ceremony which was interesting in and of itself. Basically this is the wedding that, if I ever get married, I want to steal all of my planning from. Just fantastic. I would get into the details, but I think I might bore you seeing as how I think I bored a bunch of people at work with my awe of their wedding details.
On Sunday I worked until two, went home, and took a nap for about an hour. That night, Stephanie and I went to (what we thought was going to be) a show for The Wandering Sons, instead those boys were just openers for another band called The Hackensaw Boys.I've got one three letter word to describe that band: w o w. And that's not a "wow!" that's a "wow." Get the difference? If you don't, ask and I'll explain it. There I witnessed "the stallion" as Stephanie kept referring to him. I've never seen anything like that in my entire life. If Steph decides to YouTube the video that she took, I will certainly share the link. So the night was fun. What happens in Milwaukee stays in Milwaukee: for realz.

On the way back from the show, we were about twenty minutes from home when I got a call from Matt. He had come back to Rockford and was calling to come over! Yay! for boyfriend suprises! So not only was Sunday night entertaining, but it ended with a bang...literally...and I got to see Matt for the second time this weekend.
Monday, Memorial Day, opened with a day of work. I worked from 9-2 and then headed over to Matt's house. We ended up going over to Joe's house for their b.b.q. but left shortly after we got there. We came back to my house, hung around, I made myself some lunch. Then we went back over to his house, hung out with the family for a bit, ate some delicious dinner from Sam's, and got ready to leave. The plan was that I would bring Matt back over to Joe's and then Joe's sister was going to drive Matt, Joe, and Josh all back into the city. We knew that Joe had been drinking, but his sister was supposed to drive so all should have been fine, right? Wrong. We got to Joe's house to find his sister pretty drunk. How irresponsible can people be? Matt had been dreading this and he had to get back to school because he had class this morning. He asked, and I agreed to take him into O'Hare and then he could take the "L" into the city. But wait that's not all, more fun...I ended up having to take not only Matt, which would have been fine and calm, but I had to take Joe, Joe's girlfriend, and Josh to O'Hare as well.
I should take a minute to say that I didn't have to take them all in, but I'm a nice gal and really didn't mind doing it. I was only a little annoyed because I had been tired earlier, running most of the day on only four hours of sleep. I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to drive back and stay awake. Matt actually drove into O'Hare for me, because he's a darling, which was wonderful because there was shitty traffic before one of the tolls. It was like stop and go for a couple of miles--actually, I'm not sure how long it was for, but it seemed to take forever.
We finally got to O'Hare, we parked so that I could go in to say goodbye and use the ladies room. Matt and I said fairwell (but only for about five days) and I hit the road listening to some sweet Hanson jams. Yea, that's right. Hanson. It was fabulous and kept me awake, singing my little lungs out. It was a pretty nice drive seeing as how all the traffic had subsided. I got home close to one and went to bed.
Which brings me to today. I slept a whole bunch, woke up, and have just been sitting around. Now I have to go get dressed for work. It's a short work day today, which I am excited about. This weekend should also be fun, maybe not as action filled as this past weekend, but good all the same. Tricia's B-day party is on Friday, and then on Saturday Jess, Jon, Steph, Jade, Tricia, and I are all going to the Gavin DeGraw show in Milwaukke at The Rave. I'm very excited; his shows are always amazing.

Well, until next time kids...
