Top 5 Christian Heresies that would actually have been good for the Church

  1. Jesus divorced Mary Magdalene after having a daughter - This is the big spoiler for the Da Vinci Code, and the thing which everyone is raising a stink about. So what if he was married? At least it would prove Jesus wasn't gay!
  2. The teachings of Christianity as we know them weren't Jesus' own, but rather "modified" by St. Peter and his descendants - Well, Duh! If this were doctrine, it would go a long way towards cleaning up abuses of power in the church.
  3. The Gospel of St. Thomas was indeed true - Look up Stigmata and its backstory to know more about this one. (Yes, the book really did exist.) This one would've supposedly taken the legs out from underneath the Catholic church. I don't know about that, but I do think it would've strengthened Christianity as a philosophy and spiritual path. There might not have ever been a protestant reformation if this book hadn't been "conveniently lost".
  4. Jesus was black/a woman/arab/etc. - This is one of my favorites. Whatever gender or nationality Jesus actually was has surely been lost to history, as he has been conveniently transformed into whatever appearance most pleases the local flock. (Ever seen a Native American Jesus picture?) Knowing for sure could possibly create a "righteous people", but then again there already are several "righteous peoples". I really don't think knowing would've made much of a difference.
  5. God created Darwinian evolution, and I don't mean "Intelligent Design" - Honestly, how much difference would it make when the ball started rolling on Earth? The evolutionists don't care. The only thing they argue about is the evidence of life before humanity. And what difference would it make if God created the dinosaurs?
For those who honestly think the world was created in 7 days, consider this: you're taking literally a book that was a translation of a translation of a 2000+ year old text that was written from dictation to start with. Tell me, what's wrong with that picture?
Did you know that the modern concept of time isn't even 1000 years old?
