She was ready to go. Her mother didn't want to let her go though. The school year had just begun and 4 year old Regan was entering pre-kindergarten. Her mother wasn't ready for her to begin her escapades of the new world away from home but it was time. Regan had been waiting anxiously for an entire week, it seemed like years to her. She had he Blues Clues backpack packed up with all her school supplies, pencils, crayons, a coloring book, and a bologna sandwich that her mother has been secretly eating at night so her bag wouldn't smell. Every morning before she would wake up just before Regan did make a fresh new sandwich.
"Mommy its time for school! Lets go I'm gonna be late!" Regan yelled from the car.
"I'm coming hun." her mother yelled from her bedroom upstairs looking for her camera. "Got it." she whispered to herself.
Regan looked adorable in her uniform. She had on a red, blue, yellow, and green plaid skort a button down collar dress shirt that and her school emblem on a patch right over her heart. She wore a pair of knee high socks and penny loafers with shiny new pennies she found in the couch and had her mother put in.
"Don't you just look precious!" her mother said with a longing face. She longed for her daughter to be that 7 pound four once baby again. The one that was vulnerable and had no sense of independence.
"Take the picture momma. I got to go to school!" Regan said with anticipation.
"Okay, you ready? Say chee--"
"CHEEEEEESSEEEE"
Regan put on her backpack and headed for the door. She looked out the window and could see all the other kids running to the school building. Her mother grabbed hold of Regan's hand and walked her across the street.
"Now you be good, and have a good day. If you need anything I'll be right over, just have your teacher call me." Her mother said.
"Okay mommy. I love you. Bye" Regan said running into the school.
Her mother walked back across the street and into the now empty house. She leaned against the door and sighed. The house was awfully quite she thought. but only until 2 she reminded herself going on and beginning her day of work. El Fin.
