Hey guys, I know a couple of you are working on getting healthy too, so I thought I'd share my goals and how it's going so far. This way we can encourage and support, and even give advice to each other!!
It all started just after my Disnelyland trip when I stood on my bathroom scale and saw that I was pushing 200 pounds! I knew I had to do something. Messing around on the internet I took a quiz that told me my Ayurvedic body style - Kapha - and advised that I need to get up early and get exercise every day as well as giving me a list of foods I should and should not eat.
Somehow that gave me the motivation to start getting up early and working out. I tried to eat the way they told me but that only lasted about a week. But that first week, I lost some weight because when I went to the doctor for my sinus infection and they weighed me I was at 194 (with all clothes and shoes on).
Since then I've been getting up pretty much every morning and spending about half an hour just relaxing, eat a piece of fruit or a hard boiled egg, drink some water, check my email. Then I do an exercise video. I'm trying to alternate between ones with cardio and pilates videos. My cardio vids right now consist of a beginner belly dance workout, and a crazy intense kickboxing one. I have just ordered a few others because I feel the kickboxing one is above my level and I know I need more variety so I don't get bored.
I am also going out to eat less. Eating more fruits and veggies. Eat smaller dinners. Almost no snacking (if I do it is usually fruit or baby carrots). All of this is on work days. Weekends... all bets are off. ;-)
This week I am housesitting with a friend. At this house they have a fitness room with a treadmill, stationary bike, ab roller, weight lifting equipment. I look forward to using that stuff as something a little different this week.
They also have a super fancy bathroom scale where you enter your height, weight, gender, and it tells you your weight and body fat percentage. Apparently I am now at 178 pounds! Can you believe that?! 20 pounds in 5 weeks! It must all be coming from my boobs because freshly washed jeans are still snug on me...
Anyway, my goal now is to loose 20 more pounds before my trip to Mexico on Memorial Day weekend. That's almost 3 months. I think it's doable... I'll let you guys know if I am getting really frustrated and need some encouragement!
