seriously?

Today, gentle readers, we will enter a hypothetical situation in an imaginary world where people are crazy. Ready? Here we go.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Kristin. Kristin liked a boy named Chris, and Chris liked Kristin, too. Unfortunately, due to some "stupid and ridiculous events" that were none of their business, Chris' friends didn't like Kristin. Even though Kristin was nothing but nice to his friends, they continuously put strain on Kristin and Chris' relationship by refusing to allow Kristin to come to any events that they or Chris' ex-girlfriend might attend, because of "guaranteed awkwardness." (Although, where the idea of this "guaranteed awkwardness" came from, Kristin or Chris never had any idea... mostly because, as previously mentioned, Kristin was excessively nice to them. They, on the other hand, went to great lengths to make Kristin and Chris feel awkward and uncomfortable in their presence.)

Anyway, Kristin and Chris eventually decided to take a break and work on the problems they were having. Chris' friends loved to exploit their break-ups, and informed Chris' ex-girlfriend every time they were having problems so she could obsessively text him at two o'clock in the morning. But one day, Chris' friends took the cake. They thought, to celebrate Chris' birthday and one of their graduations, they should have a party. The party, they decided, should be held at the house in which Chris and Kristin currently lived. Kristin put some thought into this, and decided this sounded like a horrible plan. Why in the world would she want people in her home who have consistently excluded her from everything they've done? Why, in God's name, would she want to be stuck with the clean up from a bunch of people who have never said a kind word to her? It's senseless, right?

That's why Kristin was further confused by the fact that the e-mail sent out to change the location of the party read thus:

"so due to some stupid and ridiculous events..the party will now be at *****'s apartment..if u need directions message me."

So now I ask you, gentle reader: what about these events was "stupid" or "ridiculous?" What was wrong with Kristin finally taking a stand and saying, "Screw you. I've been nothing but nice, and I have consistently gotten nothing back from you people. Why, WHY would I then let you in my home?" The fact that they all seem so bewildered by Kristin's stand seems to be the most confusing part of all.

Although, probably more confusing is the fact that Chris' friends keep up with Kristin's online journal, even though they don't like her. And because said friends don't like reading the truth, this hypothetical situation in this imaginary world (which is remarkably similar to the situation I, myself am going through) will probably cause even more drama.

It's a good thing Kristin doesn't care about keeping Chris' friends happy anymore.

[edit]: In honor of fairness (but not so much the creative flow of my story-telling), I thought it prudent to mention that Kristin was not ALWAYS nice to Chris' friends. It is very true that she said mean things to them... after, of course, she had put up with so much rudeness she was at her wit's end. ;D[/edit]
