Title: On the 7th of May
Genre: FLUFF ♥
Pairing: Siwon and Sooyoung (because I miss these two so much ;;)
Rating: G
On the 2nd of May, Sooyoung was clueless about love.
"Silly girl, love isn't decided, it is felt."
"But how will you know, mother?"
"You just know."
Sooyoung remembered having this conversation with her mother over and over again, but she never quite understood what her mother meant.
"But how can one just know, mother?"
"When you've met someone you know you cannot live without, you just know."
---
On the 3rd of May, Sooyoung explored the idea of love.
She met him first when they were about five or six (although she remembered a lot of things, she couldn't remember this as she had a bad memory), and she remembered how aloof this boy was. But being the giggly, silly girl (with the pigtails) she was, she approached him first.
"Hi, my name is Choi Sooyoung."
"Hi, I'm Choi Siwon."
She expected him to be curt, but the little boy answered her with a smile. The Sunday services were long, but Sooyoung didn't mind because somehow, Siwon always ended up sitting beside her.
He always wore a bow tie for Sunday service (which Sooyoung thought was funny, but she liked it), and girls aged 6-13 (plus women up to the age of 53) would compliment him.
"What a handsome little boy you are!"
"Thank you, madam. Your dress is lovely."
Oohs and aahs would be heard from the crowd everytime Siwon said something, and although little Sooyoung wouldn't admit it out loud, she marveled at the words that came out from the little boy's mouth.
As Sunday services were done weekly, and Sooyoung and Siwon's parents were active in these church services, it didn't come as a surprise that these two would become friends. As they were the same age, they naturally gravitated towards each other. Where Siwon was, there was Sooyoung, and Sooyoung, Siwon. They were two peas in a pod. They were inseparable.
"Let's go to my house and play, Sooyoungie."
"What shall we play today?"
"Dad bought me a new game for my Playstation."
They were young, and they didn't think they were too different from each other. Sooyoung liked playing war games (even though she wore frills and had colorful ribbons on her hair) and Siwon didn't mind sharing his new games with Sooyoung.
"Are you sure that it's okay for Sooyoung to stay out late like this?"
"She'll be fine, dad. She's at Siwon's."
Everything was fine until they were 12 and found out that it was weird for a 12-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl to hang out often. Every time they were together, there were hushed whispers and knowing stares like daggers (from the adults), and that eventually made them feel uncomfortable.
They came across new people, and they naturally drifted apart.
"Why doesn't Siwon come here anymore, Sooyoung?"
"He's probably busy with his new friends, mom."
It probably hurt more than Sooyoung would have wanted it to, but she brushed it off.
They felt things, strange things, and they thought they could brush it off in a year or two or five or ten.
---
On the 4th of May, Sooyoung fell in love.
Sooyoung studied to become a fashion designer, and Siwon (the last time she heard) was taking up whatever degree is needed to take over the family business. They haven't talked in ages, and it wasn't because they didn't want to, but because they hadn't the time to.
Sooyoung's internship wasn't a walk in the park, and Siwon has papers to make and deadlines to meet. They were friends, still, but not like before. They'd sometimes meet during Sunday services (this only happens when they have time or when their parents insist that they go), and exchange smiles or small talk.
Sooyoung was fine with this, but she would feel a pang of jealousy whenever the ladies at the Sunday service would laugh (a little too) loudly over his jokes (which were lame, to be honest), and who would fake tripping over a nonexistent carpet just so Siwon would notice them.
They weren't as close anymore, but somehow, Sooyoung wished they still were.
"Why didn't you just tell him?"
"Yuri, I was 12 and nobody is capable of falling in love at 12."
"So? I was 12 when I fell in love with Song Seung Hoon okay."
"And be awkward around him? And Miss Kwon, that is different."
They had that conversation over and over because Sooyoung's best friend loved listening to little Sooyoung and little Siwon's story. It always had the same ending - Sooyoung loved him (and loves him still) but they naturally drifted apart.
---
On the 5th of May, Sooyoung got scared with the very idea of love.
It was a clear summer day, and Sooyoung decided that it was a perfect day to go to the park and gather inspiration for their next project.
She sat under the shade of her favorite tree and for a while, allowed her thoughts to wander as she was looking around.
"Fancy meeting you here."
Sooyoung was startled, but she didn't stop the man as he was getting ready to sit beside her.
"How have you been?"
They talked like the old friends they were.
"What really happened between us, Soo?"
"I wish I knew the answer."
Couples had gone past them, and children's laughter can be heard around the park.
"I have a funny story. I liked you back then."
"Back then?"
"Okay maybe not really back then, but I did like you. I mean, I still like you."
"I like you, too."
"Oh."
Neither wanted to say anything, so they let the silence between them sink in - with it the questions they dare not ask each other, and the line that they dare not tread.
When she was 12, Sooyoung knew she had fallen in love with him. But right now, all she could feel was fear.
---
On the 6th of May, Sooyoung was ready.
They say that even when two people love each other, but when the timing is off, love won't blossom.
When they were 12, they were young, and didn't know better. Now that they're older, wiser, and ready, the affection that they've kept so well from each other found its way to the surface.
---
On the 7th of May, Sooyoung got married.
It was the 7th of May and Yuri was helping Sooyoung with her gown. Somehow, bread crumbs found their way to her pristine white gown (she ate three slices of bread before the ceremony because she was nervous, and she's hungry when she's nervous). Yuri was so pleased to send off her best friend to the man she thought loved her as much as she did (or more, even).
It was a beautiful ceremony, and almost every guest in attendance were from Sunday service.

"When you've met someone you know you cannot live without, you just know."
"Is it like you and dad, mom?"
"Of course, little girl, who else?"

A/N: My first one-shot in a long time. Now that I've finished writing it, I'm not quite sure where I wanted to go with the dates, I just placed them there hoping someone would make sense out of it? And yes, after a long time, it's a fluff one-shot and it's my favorite otp and this is a long overdue promise I made to my lovely bb
sooriforever and to my favorite unni
bamthegreat.
Yeah. Haha. Hope you liked it!
